Hi guys. I have an 8'x8'x6'6" fusion hut. Currently all I have for lighting is 2 double ended 630w cmh fusion bright fixtures with 3100k bulbs. Currently i am growing 6 plants under each light in the middle of the tent. Eventually I want to max out the floor space of my tent.

Just wondering what would be the best lights to add. I would like to prepetual grow, harvesting every 5-6 weeks. I also have2012 a BCNL producer growbox, took out the hydroponic equipment and just use it as a veg area now.

If you use different lights vs what you have youre going to have a problem in height needs for each light.

If I was going to do anything Id just get 2 more lights like what you have, or 2 of the DE CMH 630w.

Those DEs need 36-40 inches from the top of the canopy at least. Or they WILL fry whats under them. Unless its a Cactus or something. They have a HUGE amount of Infrared.

Id rather use 4 x 1000w Hortilux in an 8 x 8 tent. 1000w Hortilux HPS kills in in a 4 x 4 area. 4 of them are cranking out a huge amount of PAR. 1000w Hortilux HPS is 1600 Umol at 24 inches, and a 4 x 4. Consider if cooled properly you can get the Hortilux bulb 16- 20 inches, or closer, and while it may not cover as much area,.. 4 x 4 vs 5 x 5-6 x 5 will put out as much PAR for the area it covers vs 1000w Gavita.

But Id keep it simple, and use the same 4 lights. KISS. Don't overthink it. If you cant get a huge constant production with 4 630w DE youre doomed.:-):-):cuss::cuss:

No interest in LED's they have come a long way?
I don't know much about them, Cobb's seem badass though.

Yeah someone else gave me the same answer for the same reasons.
I had thought about having 2 600w hps on one side of the tent and the de's on the other. For the first 4 weeks of flower half the tent would be under hps and the other half would be finishing under the cmh's. I figured it would benefit to get the stretch from hps at the beginning and finish under uva/uvb, extra watts and complete spectrum. Maybe I'm wrong and that would stress em out?

Also my god bud and rockstar plants are closer than 36" from the de630's and they look fine, day 42 of 12/12 today. I will measure and take a couple pics when the lights come on.

I liked the 1000w DE Gavita vs 1000w DE Nanolux CMH. Didn't find 1 stretched any more than the other.
I tried a DE 1000w Gavita, at less than 36 inches, and they showed heat stress in 24 hours.

I use Solacure Flower Power F4 UVA/B bulbs all the way through both Veg, and flowering.

2 x 32w bulbs per 4 x 4 area.

All I can say is the 1000w Gavita started frying my friends plants at 30 inches, in 24 hours. 630 must not put out nearly as much IR as 1000w.

Weve got 2 1000w Gavitas, and a 1000w DE Nanolux, and though we weren't really comparing them on a technical basis, we feel the CMH offered no advantages.
UVA/B on a CMH isn't even worth mentioning.
Gavita covers a bit more area.

We use 2 Solacure Flower Power 32w bulbs per 4 x 4, and 1000w.
No way the quartz glass they use on CMH is letting much UVA/B out.
Solacure also goes down to 280nm. No other UVA/B bulb goes don't that far. Is the Lowest wavelength before UVC. Takes relly, really good glass to let it through.
A 32w Flower Power bulb is more than 2x stronger than an Arcadia 54w Dragon bulb, which is the most powerful Reptile bulb made.
Arcadia is 14% and Solacure is 30%, and does it with 22 less watts.
You've gotta wear eye protection if you get around either, as they WILL burn your eyes clean out.
CMH will not burn your eyeballs out in short order.
Solacure also has a built in reflector on the inside of the bulb to reflect all UVA/B possible, and doesn't rely on standard fluro fixture to reflect anything. Its all in the bulb, but works in a standard fixture.

As far as 1kw HPS DE vs 1kw DE CMH you dont think there are any benefits of the CMH? @Heisengrow on another forums mentions he can get his canopy much closer to the 1kw CMH bulb (probably due to less intensity of 2x 500w arc tubes vs 1x 1000w arc tube) would this not be a benefit for someone like me with 8' ceilings? It also seems to me that it may put out less heat than a DE 1kw HPS? would this mean its more efficient or is it more like a placebo effect?

It's a nice setup but I'll be comparing the de hps on the next run.im not sure if the 1000w cmh is as good or better than the hps

Even if its equal to a DE thats still nice for lower ceiling installations. the only drawback would be most DE can be turned up to 1150-1200 watts but the nanolux 1kw CMH doesnt appear to go over 1000 watts. maybe running that bulb by itself in a different low freq. square wave ballast would accomplish this.

CMH you may get a little closer, and puts out less heat vs Gavita, but the CMH as far as I know doesn't have any more umole than a 1000w Hortilux HPS.. 1600umole. It does have more lumens when boosted, so umole probably goes up too, but at 1000w with no boosting the Hortilux is hard to beat. 144,000 lumen/1600umole.
I believe the sun is around 100w/sq/ft.

Gavita has 2100umole, and is hotter. Much more IR. Gavita covers more area. It only makes sense though. 1600umole vs 2100 is about 20% more powerful. With a heat increase from Gavita..
Ive said many times IMHO a 1000w Hortilux HPS.. Blue Enhanced... though it has 1600umole, if its cooled good enough you can get as close as 12- 20 inches, which though I havent measured it, logic tells me its emitting more umole at the canopy v even the Gavita.
Nanolux is capable of 1275w, and 160,300 lumens. Gavita is 166,000 lumens at 1200w.

I like the Hortilux HPS with lower ceilings vs either 1. To me a 4 x 4 area and 1000w Hortilux wee made for each other.

You can add cheap and small led light as supplement lighting, such as Mars Reflector 240W led or grow bar

Are you using 2 630DE to cover 4x8, not 8x8?
You can add 2 of SunPlix DE CMH/HPS fixtures. When plants are in flower, use HPS lamp to replace CMH.
