Additional lighting . Opinions

Hey guys. First time poster here but a long time grower.

I have a 6x6 with 5 plants . I do DWC just coming out of a 80 day veg.

Went from 1200w of MH “3X400w” to 1000w of Hps. Plants are huge. The 6x6 is full . I feel like i need to add more light. Here is my question.

Should i add a 400w MH or 2 , rebulbed to 10,000k on a intermittent timer to help with UV or do i add 2x 6 bulb t5HO units, one on either side of the HPS.

The hps is in a cool tube and i have like 1000CFM of exhaust so o can get the plants just as close to the HPS as i can ti the T5s .

Canopy is trimmed similar to SOG but with no netting cause i run individual Reservoirs for plant accuracy . Ill post some pics

I can fit 2 6 bulb t5s , one on each side .

Or put 1 or 2 400w metal halides vwrtically in underneath, one 10,000k one 3000k.

These are 7 gallon pails so there is alot of room lol

if your using the t5s to veg/flower I would do two 6500k then four 2700k tubes to balance it out that's imo doe I like that combo gives them a full spec

Heres the canopy, plants are inches away from the light and fine, leaf surface is a cool 77

Ill be using whatever i select WITH a 1000w HPS .

Heat is not a worry i have AC. Looking for best option quality / yield wise

also don't be a dick using a 1k hps will do a 5x5 adding one 6 bulb t5 on each side would do nicely im already unwatching this lol gave u my suggestion

How am i being a dick ? I asked for a supplement lighting opinion and you told me what bulbs to put in my T5 high bays lol.

Also, Hps is a eye hortilux super HPS @ 2100k.

I took it that u were using the t5s already pretty baked and how u said this " whatever i select WITH a 1000w HPS ." sounded like a narcissist to me but just use the t5s on the sides up to u

Ok thanx . Not tryin to argue bud ment no disrespect sorry for the caps . .

I also said i have a 6x6 not a 5x5 lol. I appreciate the input though .

Im gonna have to wait a day or two before i can get T5HOs in the spectrum i want so for the time being this is what im doing.

I added a 400w MH @3000k to the bottom cause i had the bulb here. Im gonna wait for more opinions and do more reading before i make a final decision .

are those separate water systems or no because some people just have a lot of the single pot systems but a pain in the ass to manage but I don't think that's your case right?

Pretty sure your only option is hanging some 315's above the canopy on the sides of your 1k.

Separate 7 gallon pails yes lol and its a bit of a pain but ive got it done to a habit after 10 years honestly lol

For a 6x6? Not sure thats good idea.

decided to do some defoliating and get the plants to sit more uniform in a circle without there being a big hole of HPS light going straight onto the floor. I feel much better about the plant arrangement now.

Res temps are a cool 64c, cooler at night by a few degrees . My intake system flows so much air i have tubing all around the base of my plants with holes cut for each bucket to get slightly cooled by the incoming air. It actually works lol and im sure the plants love getting fresh air individually aswell.


The cardboard box is my vortex fan in a box of sound deadening material. It is still very audible.

Thentwo digital screens are my “baby monitors” that ill place around the house . They are small wireless monitors in the grow room that update every 2 second “small white square boxes in pics” Its nice to have a easy way to check the room .
