i see an has discontinued hammerhead... idk why, its the one product that works.. does anyone have a recommendation to something equivelant to hammerhead? ps i use big bud now and its junk!

Just a tip, a stirring plate is super handy when dissolving dry salts in order to make a concentrate. Saves a LOT of stirring / shaking. You don't need the hot one.

I use 2 liter mason jars. Put one on the plate, add your ingredients and the stirring pill. Set it to running. Do other things, come back later and if everything is dissolved turn it off, flip the mason jar and the magnetic stir pill will stick to the lid.

ok thank you very much!! just to clarify,, the bottle says potassium nitrate and your recipe says potassium sulfate?? which do i need?

shoot me a pic of the bottle label, I will run some numbers on my calculator. Honestly I just grabbed the recipe from another thread on here.

You can make most anything thats out there as a bottled nutrient using dry salts and water, but PK boosters are simpler due to the limited number of ingredients. The enzyme and beneficial bacteria are a couple different products however you can multiply the beneficial bacteria.

Well throw that recipe I found in the trash lol

They say derived from but it appears that they are doing a chemical reaction to get the P2O5 and K2O from the KH2PO4 (thats the mono potassium phosphate) and actually most MKP is really a mix of mono and dipotassium phosphate lol.

We are gonna need someone with more chemistry background than I to see what they are doing.

Sorry to disappoint.

yes i am pretty sure its discontinued. it used to be in the secret menu, now there is just kushy kush lol. i cant find it for sale anywhere.

i am the op, and i like the stuff!
Advanced Nutrients and their pricing is what got me to try dry nutrient salts, like the entire rest of the greenhouse world uses.

I found that it was not hard to find good dry nutrient mixes, they were CHEAP by comparison to water bottles, they store extremely well when they're dry and you can very easily custom mix what you want just by adding a bit more or less of a given component.

As a relevant example, I have a 50lb sack of MKP, also known as monopotassium phosphate, 0-52-32. It's a "nutrient double salt" which just means both materials in the salt (chemistry term) are nutrients. Calcium nitrate is another nutrient double salt, by the way.

If I want to add phosphorus to my grow mix, I can simply weigh some out on the order of maybe a quarter gram per gallon of nutrient mix, as it to the res and I'm done. I only add it maybe once or twice to a run in bloom.

Imagine how long my 50lb sack will last at such usage rates; I probably have a lifetime supply!

By comparison, water bottle nutes are an expensive pain in the ass.
