Always fun to see an organic nazi come out to point out what is and isn't "organic enough" to be organic. Advanced Nutrients has plenty of organic options out there, many of their products are "more organic" than is required by OMRI.
Some people just don't think it's organic enough unless you're elbow-deep in a 4th generation organic cow pulling out "fertilizer" by the handful. Wouldn't want it polluted by some heathen non-vegan fly, would we?
Organic, peace, light, kindness, being good to our fellow man... but wait, that guy over there makes a profit so I'm totally justified in just assuming all his motives are selfish and all his compassion is phony.
Sure, some skepticism is healthy. If I need work done on my car I don't just assume the mechanic is telling me gospel truth. But I don't start from the opinion he's a pathological liar simply because he expects me to pay for the repairs. That weird-smelling holistic mechanic only wanted $20 to overhaul the transmission, but all he did was shake a rainstick at it and hang a crystal from the rearview. It still ran like crap.
I'm sure he's far more morally superior, though.
When you guys say 'soilless mix' are you talking about hydroponics. Excuse the newb question, but I am, yup, a newb. With a license
That's a good question and the answer will depend on who you ask.
Technically (correctly) "soilless" is hydroponics. If you think about it, if you're growing soilless - without soil - that's exactly what hydroponics is. Where it gets confusing is in the "soilless mix" category you're asking about - it looks a lot like soil and is intended to work basically the same way - mostly.
It's like zero calorie soda. The idea is to give you a soda that doesn't have any real sugar or calories in it, but it's not quite the same as regular soda. Soilless mix isn't the same as soil, even though it's treated the same in many ways. The key difference is that without any soil in it, there's no real nutrients for the plant. You have to supply it all - just like hydroponics does. It's basically no different than growing in coco, hydroton, or rockwool. It's a soilless media.
So yes, it's hydroponics, but no - some people don't really think of it that way even though they should.
