Advanced Stealth Hydro Bubbeponics Thread

Hey do you guys worry about siphoning from your air pump? They all have the warning that says the pump should be higher than the air stone unless you have check valves? Has this ever happened to anyone?

Guess I need to bump this question...

I syphon using my WATER PUMP. I have never used the air pump to syphon water. I think you'll have a big, BIG immediate problem, but someone that knows for sure should post as well.

Yeah, if you don't put a BACKFLOW/ANTI-SYPHON valve ($2-$3 at the pet store) between the air pump and airline, if the pump stops pumping due to a power outage or whatever, water can easilty flow back into the air pump if it is at or below the water level in the tank. IT CAN CAUSE A SHORT AND A POSSIBLE FIRE.

Yeah, no, I didn't mean to siphon with the air pump.

I was curious to know if a potential siphon is really as possible as the pump warning make it sound. Has this ever happened to anyone?

I think $2-3 per check valve is a little expensive.

Heres my SOG that was severly lst'd. 1 White Widow and 1 AK48 at 7 weeks flowering, after a 6 week veg. (13 weeks from seed).

Yes, you want the air pump either above the water level or add an anti-siphoning valve.

Thanks Bluey - I'm flushing now and next Sunday is the day I chop my sog, my first one. I have tons of thick colas that go almost all the way to the stump. It'll be interesting to see how much I get from these two. The bids are rock hard. they love the 250 & 400 hps's.

I have a running 4 gal- 12 site set up bubbleponics with 2 resivors 1 is 30 gal another is 20 gal, the 20 gal has a float in it to control the water level in the 4 gal planters and the 30 gal tops off the 20 gal tank, in the mean time i have a water pump circulating the water flow at all times as well as a water chiller and i made the system myself from various home depot, lowes etc shops all for the 4 gal planters they are originally fresh step liter containers from walmart which include lids as i have cats i am in constant supply of these containers 4 times i have grown a constant groth with 0 problems and excellent results using the recirculating bubbleponics

So I would assume Distilled is still the cleaner of the two?

Hey fellow DWC lovers. Like many of you, I'm totally devoted to the way of the hydro grow. This is my second grow with the stealth hydro system and I've gotten past all the little problems of first time growing - now I'm onto perfecting my process.

so did i just find this thread in time to find out everyone else has left?

i reckon i qualify for advanced bubbleponics. i currently grow in 2 power growers. the larger version of the water farm. i love these systems. i love the simplicity of the air powered drip ring system and the way it picks up only surface water (highest d/o content) to feed your girls.

I'm also the proud owner of a 4 pot recirculating bubbleponics system. it is based on the gh water farm system also so utilises the air powered drip rings in each bucket. it also has a large res which is gravity fed into a control box. the control box water level is controlled by a float valve and the water is recirculated through the buckets using yet another air powered riser. there is no water pumps in my whole system yet it can recirculate all the water in the whole system in under 2 hrs. pretty impressive i reckon.

and finally I'm working on a new project this weekend. its a brutal hybrid bubbleponics vs aeroponics system. essentially there will be a single plant drip fed. but instead of having the root mass in dwc it will be suspended like aeroponics and any water that runs down through the root system while the pump is on will drain directly into a lower res. which will then be fed back up to the drip ring with a water farm style riser.
