advice for a mother plant

Im starting my second grow and decided to get a mother going instead of ordering seeds all the time. My first grow turned out great so I know the basics of hydro and lighting and such. Just wondering if anyone has noticed a difference in growing a mother vs others. How long can you keep her in veg for before she kicks it or how many times can you take clones? Shell be in a DWC 5 gallon bucket, A/N, 1000w MH.

Mothers can live for years if properly cared for, but most people only run them for a few months. You can take cuttings at least once a month depending on growth.

I agree with cindysid, you can keep a mother for years as long as you treat her right.

They just keep going. Larger pot for em I think is better. Every clone makes two more clone sites.
edit: my bad I use soil.

Grow your mothers in soil. Saves on the work. Also look into grafting.

Thanks for the input guys. I dont know the first thing about growing in soil. I only plan to take 12 cuttings off of it (2 grows of 6) then flowering that motha! Ill look in grafting, never heard of it but a little research is good.

Grow your mom in coco coir, its hydro but has a lot of benefits of soil. check out this link on keeping Bonsai Moms

You can make 100 cuttings before the hormones start to dissipate and soil is a lot more forgiving than hydroponic growing just do your homework and you will be okay I recommend Fox Farms Ocean Forest.

Do you think cuttings take better to soil? Ive still got some spare seeds Maybe ill do some research and order some soil and what not and just do both. You can never have enough right

Have two mothers going in soil and hydroponics see which results you prefer as a outdoor grower my hearts with soil. Cuttings can be started in soil or a hydroponic mediums is this you first time taking cuttings? I would say use jiffy pellets for a medium and keep them under T5s in a humidity dome.
