Advice on growing outdoors in Tropics

This is my first attempt to grow some weed. My friends probably gonna hook me up with some free white widow or maui wowie skunk. I live in hawaii so we have sun usually from around (5am or 6am) - (6pm or 7pm) all year long. (Location Selection for Sunrise Sunset Calendar a chart of sun times). I wanted to guerilla grow about 14 plants in the jungle near my house. The plants would get lots of sun and water is near by. The area gets no human traffic.

I was wondering what is the best way to germinate the seeds. I can't really start them at home because I dont want my GF to find the plants.

I was also wondering if anyone knows how to keep pigs out of the patch (if pigs eat weed).

How much sq. ft. per plant in general? How much sq. ft. per plant for these strains?

Lastly how can i get the plants to bud if i am growing outside, away from my house and cannot regulate the amount of light they get?

A good way to germinate seeds is to get a plate and put a few peices of paper towl on it and then pour on some water put the seeds on the wet paper towl and then put a couple more peaices of paper towl on top then put another plate on top and keep them in a dark and warm place. you could germinate them outside right in the soil as long as it doesnt get too warm and the soil stays moist.

To keep pigs away put up a good chicken wire fence around your plants(you can paint black to avoid being seen) also piss around the area, putting soap in socks and hanging it from low trees is supposed to help to, as well as coyote, fox, couger, tiger shit and human hair.

You should go for a strain that flowers automaticly, i dont know of any way to force budding without reducing the hours of light by covering the plants.

If the soil in the area isnt very good you should plant in grow bags or 5 gallan pots with any good potting soil and bury them in the ground so there not as tall

Shaka, bro. I used to live on the Big Island. Forget about the chicken wire; those pigs won't even notice it on their way through it. I never had any problems with them eating my pot, but that doesn't mean they won't do it. If they take a notion, they'll tear that shit up the same way they tear everything else up. If you've got a lot of the bastards near your place, I'd check with the local garden stores and see what they recommend.

yeah your plants are gonna bud way too early and will hardly veg and be small with pinner buds, your best bet would be to veg them indoors and move them out, or just grow them indoor:neutral:......

Check the light sch im from the big island and the sun comes up at 5:45 and does not go all the way down untill 7:00 or so you should be fine ass long as you get them in the ground asap. What island you stay bro? Might be ableto help eachother out...I got a lil op going myself. Except my girl smokes more then i do! Come aug though the light specs are less and less so it will flower.

wow, I can't believe all the advice I'm reading here. I live in Puna, and I have yet to use a light indoors for my outdoor girls. I'm yet to grow a three inch, half gram plant! With some time, the majority of you folks won't either. I think it comes with experience. myself. I like the majority of the folks here ,but their advice is something I'll have to think hard and long before I take it. I mean "chicken coop wire" for instances is called chicken coop wire for a reason. Because it's there as a deterrent to keep chickens from "galavanting". But it most certainly won't stop a 150 to 200 pound Sow from showing you who the boss is!

Again, returning to planting now. We are blessed to be able to grow in Hawaii with our great weather year round. Don't worry about getting "billy Barty buds"!!!
look at my pics, this is less than two months .and two week!

Good luck

hey man be warry on advice coming from people without growing experience from the islands! dont worry about flowering man your plants will pick up on the temp change that happens yearly. maybe subtle but your plants will defiently pick up on it and flower around october or september. heres my very first grow outdoors on maui. (first grow ever)
