Bad pic. Before i installed the hook but the X is the hook and the bad drawing is the carbon filter.

But I hung the carbon filter from the red hooks the fan is attached to.
I think there is a place i can mount the fan directly behind the photo to the left.
So i think i should make it work, run a straight piece of ducting from filter to fan then fan to ducting our of room. Filter is ceiling level. So air will
be pulled from up high.

Just this damn bracket for the exhaust fan is a bitch to mount.
I can’t get my drill to be straight without hitting the fan.
So think i’ll get a 2x4 tomorrow, try and drill a pilot hole through the bracket to make a new hole or use exsitisting. Then i’ll mount that to my 2x4 with screws or nut and bolt. Then drill wood with fan to spot.

Should work, in me head at least

sounds like a plan, easier to just make a few neat holes and patch them later, and make all your big holes/adjustments in a piece of scrap wood like the 2x4. just run a couple eye hooks down the length and bungee your filter up to it. if you use adjustable nylon straps you can hang it just even with the fan, gauging by your photo. Run the 2x4 from the red hook to the black hooks, make sure it's secured in the studs then go to town.
