Advice on my planned stealth cab grow?

Goodwill, Habitat for Humanity has stores selling donated stuff, similar Home Improvement recycled resellers...Ikea, Walmart, HomeDepot, Sears.

The same scenario [on Craigslist] played out for me too, it took a bit to find what I wanted, but it was worth it.
You could build a small cabinet too, not that hard if you had a screwgun and HomeDepot's cutting saw.

Take a look at these for comparison to Cfl's too....150w HPS $75 You can also get 75W and 100W versions, but usually with an outdoor fixture @ HomeDepot

Would I need to make a cool tube for this? Or run ducting and a bigger fan to cool it off?

It would be way more easy to make a cabinet since I could make it a size I wanted, but Im just going to buy one because a plywood box in my closet would raise some hairs.

Thanks for the reply! I'll look into it!

I've seen some lovely micro grows using HID + cooltube. Looks like a necessity in a small space tbh.
Soooo. I made that thread way too quick. Im currently going to follow somewhat of the plan.

Difference is Im not going to waste my time with CFL's. Just gonna spend the money and get an hps setup (DIY) and get an inline fan for exhaust. Ill run the carbon filter, then the fan, and then through the cooling tube and out. Itll all be inside the dresser which should keep the noise down. Might as well do it right the first time right?

You could, that's totally your perrogative. However, I'm a firm believer in: you have to learn to walk before you can run. But do whatever suits your needs best.

I don't want to start a CFL war but majority of what i've read is to try not to use them. I know i'll want the most dank stuff I can grow so I'll end up wanting a hps set up. Personally I don't think hps is like some light for expert growers. It just takes a lot more to set it up properly. But I definitely agree with you.

I don't know what you're reading that says not to use them...there's a whole sub-forum that would disagree with you. IMHO you don't need a HPS setup to have "the most dank stuff", CFLs can do the job too if used properly. HPS will certainly do the trick, but for something like a cabinet grow, i think its more effort than its worth. If you ask me, HPS is better suited for larger grows like tents, or whole rooms. CFLs are perfect for something small and stealthy like a cabinet. Not only will it cost less electricity to run CFL vs HPS, but it's a cheaper initial investment up front too. Just food for thought....
