Advice on my settup 1st grow attempt

As per my initial post I’m a combat vet with PTSD. Got sick of the pills and flower was helping tremendously. Never have attempted a grow. Been mirroring a friend of mine and decided to give it a try.

I essentially have a spacious man cave I’m using. Very low budget as I don’t even have a tent. I have this settup with a burple 600 watt? Timer is working, humidity seems good (43-45%) Have it at 33.5 inches above soil in Pea Potts. Used perlite, mixed with fox farms ocean mix. Moisture is good and the shell is about to fall off the 4 Bhodi OG seeds in germination (soaked for 14 hours and they have been germinating for about 36 hours). About 2-3 mm of roots showing.

About to plant tonight or tomorrow morning. Any advice you can give? See any red flags? Btw have 2 ceiling fans and an extra fan on the floor. I plan on covering the window with a blanket during flower. I know I have 4 pea Potts and thinking about getting another light and doing 2 per light. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Tyvm

Seedlings dont need much light, heck a window would work as long as its warm. Not nowing the light Id start at about 5'.
Keep them warm once transplanted,Too much light will kill them early on. Good luck.

Light is a Vipar Spectra PAR 600 full spectrum LED.

Just checked seeds. They need to germinate for a bit longer than this right? Also have seen 3 little nats near my light. I guess they came in when blowing smoke out the window. How should I get rid of them? Ty

The longer the root gets the more fragile it is.I transplant as soon as it pops.Be very careful.

Somesort of home made humidity dome is useful, put your newly transplanted seeds in one. This will also help filter the light.

Uggh planted 20 mins ago and roots were kinda long about 1/2 inch. 2 kinda went in sideways as the root was curling around like a candy cane. Think they will sprout? Also on my light mentioned above should I have all 3 settings on or just the white light in this stage?

See not that hard. Congrats they would like a humidity dome for the first week. The light can have blue and white on say 1/2 power and red just on low.

you dont want that light in your eyes. that setup is ok if you arent in that room
also be weary the light cycle and that window there is a dead giveaway with those blurples

Good point. This is upstairs and facing my backyard which backs farmland, but point taken.

Can I get some more info on the humidity dome? Any links or anything? Ty
I prefer to just start my seeds straight into soil. No humidity dome needed then, even in Colorado with humidity as low as 10%. I just keep the soil around the seed moist until it sprouts. Here's a pic of one of the homemade domes I've made. I just cut the top off a gallon water jug. But you can get creative and make one any size depending on the size of your pot. And, Thanks for your service. My fathers a Vietnam vet, and I get it. He uses cannabis now too since it helps with his PTSD. He doesn't ridicule me anymore about weed, lol.

Thanks man. You know I haven’t read much on watering techniques but I’m thinking how hard can this be? I’ve just been spraying pretending it’s natural rain water. Like I’d eventually like to go as natural and organic as possible. I’d prefer to do an outdoor but my situation isn’t conducive. Right now I water at 6 am and at night during my smoke sesh. But I’m just not sure about all of this artificial stuff used by growers today.

Ya, it's not hard at all to grow these girls. You have FFOF, so you'll be good without nutes for a few weeks or so. I'm using FFOF too, but I have amended mine since I've been using it for over a year now. I'm turning all mine into no-till soil to make it easier and less work once I master it. I only have used organic nutes in it to keep my soil life happy. I used Earth Juice the first grow, but am trying to get more into just top dressing with dry amendments. Earth Worm Casting are awesome too if you're gonna go the organic route.

Plan on using them when transfer to 5 gallon Potts.
