Hello I'm a new member here , currently on my first grow. Looking for advice as far as what to get to have a really cheap and effective grow room here after my first grow. The only thing I have atm is 5 gal fabric pots and a 1000w viparspect led and fox farms nute trio. Was trying to get some advice to point me in the right direction for supplies, seeds, tents , nutes lights etccc..... like I said first timer really clueless here not even sure what strain to grow deffintly thinking autoflowers though as I am greener than my plants at growing!!!

For lights go with a mix of hlg main lighting and rapidled for supplemental lighting. For nutrients I use Humboldt countys own. Fox farms processing center is just across the bay in samoa and many people out here dont even use them in Humboldt county.

I would go with a tent because it is a much easier to manage controlled environment. Also landlords seem to love it when you have one. My landlord thought I was screwing holes and totally changing place. Saw the tent and was relieved I didn't use a single screw.

Wonder if my landlord would feel the same

How about strains??? Looking for something forgiving, easy to grow ,and preferably a more potent indica or hybrid.
Well living in Humboldt county have some of the best genetics. They literally smell and taste like what strains say now lol. Og kush is a universal tough plant.

How did you know that's my all time fav!!! How about any of the gorilla glues I am very fond of those strains as well!!!
Well Humboldt seed company (NOT THE FAKE BULLSHIT HUMBOLDT SEED ORGANIZATION LOCATED SPAIN) sorry I hate that fucking company using Humboldt name to sell their seeds in another country. You will never find their seeds or strains in this county. Humboldt seed company has a bigfoot glue you might want to try.

So just FYI I don't actually recommend autos for new growers ... they can actually be a royal pain in the ass. You can't control the size and only Mephisto strains seem to do what the breeder says they will ... and good luck getting their seeds. Autos are also often really nute sensitive. Don't get me wrong, they have their time and place ... its just not for new growers imo

As for budget seeds, its hard to beat the prices for Useful, Brisco's Bargain Beans and 3thirteen. Anything feminized from them will be fire and a great place to start. Check Great Lakes Genetics, JBC Seeds or DC Seed Exchange for them.

Also, if your a kush fan, Eso's seeds has some crazy Las Vegas Triangle Kush crosses that are, again super reasonable. He hooks it up with the freebies too. He sells direct so just Google him.

That light you have would be fine for a 2x2 or 2.5 x 2.5 tent but I wouldn't go any bigger unless you intend to upgrade that as well.

And really in your shoes I'd toss the viparspectre and get a 150w HPS for $80. All of those LEDs suggested above are great but your looking at easily $200+ to light the same area.

The quantum would put out far less heat with much better photo reaction to color spectrum of lights. Also greatly saving in long run on electric bill which in long run effectiveness outweighs all the faults of old hid technology. If the viparspectra is a purple though than you are right toss that shit. Haha

Yeah, it is haha. And I agree on the QB, but the up front cost is a lot for some people. And as I've mentioned elsewhere, watts are watts, so running 200w of QB costs the same as 200w of HID. The big difference is the heat, but only OP knows if he can handle it without an AC, which is what really drives up the electric bill. But if the tent is in a room with a steady ambient temp and he sets up good ventilation an HID should be fine.

Lol yeah the lights totally purple:wall:. Well was thinking 4x4 tent would that light work with the 150 HPS together in the same tent?
Sure, but your still no where near the recommended amount of light for a 4x4. The viparspectre is only 260w at the wall and isn't a very good spectrum, so even with a 150w HPS you'll be a bit shy of what you would want. That combo would be better in a 3x3. And honestly, I don't know what your consumption is, but you can grow a lot of weed in a 3x3 once you get dialed in.

Do you have a budget in mind for all this btw?

A Viparspectra 1000w will not provide through flower.
I have no experience with HID other than knowing they work well - but I don't want to contend with the heat.

I'm in the same boat - I bought the hype and picked up a Viparspectra VA-1200 --- 264w @ the wall.
---It worked great for 7 seedlings thru week 2 of veg and then I had to add 2 more "300w" burples (197 & 215w).
In a few days, I'm heading over to a friend's to borrow 2 more "300"w burples.

edit --- I gotta admit though the dimmers are a nice feature - except that they've both been at 100% since week 2.
