1st rule anti gnats, keep humidity low of your medium.

Then create some traps, the yellow tape can pick a lot of the grown gnats with eggs, each gnat produces hundreds of larvae that love to eat your roots.

If you running it outdoor, i suggest you to make a trap with a plastic bottle, put some water with a strong odor inside it on the bottom (cod fish water smells so bad and rot that those insects love it) then inside the bottle and arround put some yellow traps, boom magic! And make sure you let the medium dry, otherwise like i said 1 of those puts hundreds of eggs..

Diatomaceous Earth on top of the soil or whatever medium your using. Yellow sticky traps. These pheromone traps work surprisingly well for fungus gnats. I believe they attract the males. Even with all that I still see them around but the numbers stay much lower. Oh and I squash them whenever one is dumb enough to land near me. Little shits.

Definitely been using the squash technique... will have to try that diatomaceous earth though

I had them fuckers badvthis last run (indoors) it's been a banner fucking year for gnats where I live. I put out the big sticky traps around my table where my plants sit then each pot got 3 of the big sticky traps on the sides. Once a week I'd hit them with azamax (soil drench) and mosquito dunks the rest of the week. I still see them flying here and there but it's a huge improvement. And that's all you need cuz you're not gonna get rid of them in the middle of a grow.

I'm getting the sticky traps and will look into the azamax...I even replaced the top inch of soil, which worked for about a week but still came back strong

And don't bother with DE. I tried it and they just walked all over it unphased. Then once you water your plants it turns to paste. Then youll try to dig the shit out but it's not enough and you gotta poke holes with a fork once or twice a week to get water to go thru.

Take a small bowl.
Put a piece of fruit in it.
Cover it with plastic wrap
Make holes with a toothpick making sure they're big enough for the gnats to get through.
You've just made the best gnat trap
Catch gnats
Euthanize in microwave

This one is ready for new bait. My gnats are from peaches I harvested from my tree and were in the kitchen. A couple went bad. I've since processed the peaches but the gnats are still around but not for much longer now that their only food source is a trap. Go buy a peach and setup a couple of these. You'll see results within a couple hours with a bunch of trapped gnats. Put one on each pot.

After 20 seconds in the microwave.

I've tried something like that with the apple cider vinegar...it kills alot of them but they multiply way faster

Fruit works much better than vinegar. Vinegar doesn't work very well at all. A slice of a fresh peach and they're having brawls on top of the plastic to get in.

I'm serious. I actually just found this trap method a day ago and it's the only method I'll use in the future. They're not smart enough to get out so they are stuck.

h202 ,strongish solution, will kill all the larva, and sticky traps for the flyers.
strongish h202 is too vague. strongish h202 could kill everything, including burning your roots. so be careful with that if you go that route,...is just my suggestion. im trying to deal with a pest problem myself right now. im using jacks deadbug which seems to work well. its spinosad as the main active ingredient which is organic. killed a bunch after one spray, but i can see this is not a battle, its more of a war that you just have to keep up with. im learning along the way, so again, this is just my experience.

im really interested in trying this method myself. they over ripe fruit doesnt cause any issues in the tent. it just collects gnats? what if you put in some watermelon pieces. do the same thing? im not trying to hijack the thread,...but since im dealing with the same thing, we can both benefit from this info. i'll bow out if op would rather me create my own thread. i actually did and got roasted by a red headed man with a wild perm

Ha ha

I don't know about watermelon but I don't see why not. Gnats like sugary fruits more than they do cannabis.

It does work. I have a bunch more trapped already. And as I said, this is a new method I found just yesterday and it actually works. The dumb bugs crawl in, eat, and are too stupid to crawl back out.

The only thing I don't like about it is the fact I didn't know about it sooner.
