Aero with seperate res tank

So I’m new to growing highly intrested in aero as I’m huge nerd though will probably start with soil as it’s easiest my question tho

It seems like most people to do DIY aero low pressure do more of a DWC with sprayers up top.

Is there anything wrong with setting the main tub with the sprayers up higher and putting a drain in the bottom to immediately allow the res to drain back to a seperate tank? Wouldn’t this help with tank temps by getting the tank out of the grow room. Also the plants roots would never be submerged in water just constantly sprayed by the misters.

Not looking for someone to explain much further hoping to find a thread or link where someone has tried this?

That is excatly what I was looking for. Thank you. Just a question realistically how often do the red "misters" clog? Is it a once a week, month, cycle.

Never if you put a mesh micron tea/filter bag around the pump. You can't see but the bottom of the top tote has one of the connectors for a flood and drain table going straight down into the lower tote which the lid has a hole made in it to fit nice and snug for that connector to poke through, down into the bottom tote. The tube on the front is just a line to the sprayer manifold from the pump.

The water gets hot, not warm, hot, very quickly. A chiller is needed or timing the spraying to like 1 minute on 4 minutes off.

I'll take some for you tomorrow morning. Like you, I was fascinated by Aero and wanted to be on the cutting edge. My system isn't pretty and I have a few kinks to work out but it's simple, reliable and extremely effective. I have a feeling it's exactly what you are picturing making.

look up stinkbud's system, it's easy to do and easy to adapt to what you're looking for

So I had a little mess and water nutrient solution leaked all over the floor but this should give you the general idea. I basically bought a dart frog misting system from mist king. It even came with a repeat cycle timer. Got the manifold and the 4 way nozzles to keep things simple as well as the filter to stop the nozzles from clogging.

Super simple and easy to use. Use 4 gallons of RO water every 5 days or so. Res temps stay around 16 celsius. Keep PPMs around half to three quarters what feed charts say. Use hydrogen peroxide every feed to eliminate buildup and keep algae at bay plus the plants love it. Use 100 percent liquid nutes such (I use Nutri+) to prevent any clogs. Other than that it's pretty easy and efficient.

Things that I'm upgrading next time around:
- holes at the bottom of the bins ad they don't fully drain
- black lids as their is some algae under the lid
- might go drain to waste
- better reservoir with hoses feeding directly into lid.
