aerogarden ph help!

My ph stays exactly 7 in my aerogarden at all times basically. it just works out that way every time i test it.
my plants seem to be PERFECTLY happy, fat, and bushy.
however, everybody seems to say i should lower it and make it more acidic.
would it really be that much more beneficial?

the first rule = if looks ok, let it be!
i find in aero systems, start with 5.5 and slowly rasie to 6.5 in the end of cycle.
reason being, at the start of cycle you wanna focus on roots and stems.these grow better and stronger on a lower ph. when the plant has a strong root system,and a strong stalk,it will be able to give you flowers alot more nutes when they need them,meaning, MORE TO SMOKE :) in the last few important weeks, the nutes the flowers need are easily found in a ph of 6.5.... canceling out certain minerals etc that are readily found in ph 5.5.... your plants will grow ok in ph7 but not as good...

what do you suggest that i do then. i
mean, im about to put them into flowering on oct1st .
i hear that if i put my water through my britta purifier, it should bring the ph down to a good level. however, im still skeptical on this. any thoughts?
