Aerogarden Update

im using the aerogarden too and mine looks fuckin awsome. a hell of a lot better than i though it would be. anyways you should get some milar, its this reflective film that you can put on your walls of the box. put it on the base of the garden to so the lower leaves can get some light too. also if you get a biiger box, get some red LED panels for the flowering stages. using this seems to flower the plant better. mine started flowering at about 6-7 weeks. i veged it for about 5 weeks and started the 12/12 at 6 weeks. the white hairs didnt show until about the begining of the 7th week, just be patient itll grow. here are some other tips for you:

get an air stone and leave it on 24/7

put the aerogarden on a timer( not the aerogarden timer. it doesnt have 12/12 settings)

you should also have a few fans in there. two 4" fans should be fine.

get a thermometer and keep the temp around 80-83F

other than that just use the right amount of nutrients and you should be good.

i keep the light about 2in away from the plant. this should be far enough to not cause burning.

ill put pics up of my rig so u can get a better idea of what it looks like. later dude

I think some stretching is going on.... a few days ago I finally raised and suspended my lighting hood with some velcro and string lol. Thats why I'm a MacGuyver smoker. Anyways I initially raised it too high by probobly like 6 inches and didnt change it closer pretty much because of laziness and the setup is kinda a pain in the ass. so yea stretching...

Yesterday I removed some of the leaves on the lower levels of the plants. Most of the leaves were looking kinda bad and not really getting any light.

Was this a good Idea or bad idea?

Another thing is today I noticed what appeard to be mold growing on the lower base of the stems on two of my little sprouts. It looked white and web like. like cotton not too much not too thick.

I took the 2 plants out and another little guy that wasnt doing good and threw them away

I'm now left with 1 little plant that will most likely will die soon it's kinda there just as an experiment. lol.

I dont think there is mold anywhere else tho, I think its ok now.

Well I'm 5 days into flowering so far I havent noticed much change.
Havent noticed much change in the last 9 days either. Maybe just some verticle growth.

I wonder if I have just about maxed out the size of the plant in comparison to the water resevoir, maybe I'm just looking at the plants too much.

How long till I start to see signs of flowering do you think?

one more thing. u should try and find shorter plants for the aerogarden.

Has anyone just used the aerogarden without the extra lights or the expensive nutes from seed to harvest?

Also whats the deal with all the extra crap on this thread? Cannabis should not be categorized with coke and pharmaceuticals. You can pick the herb and smoke it, you don't have to grind it up and sniff it up your noes or mix it with anything. I am so tired of the ignorance that even cannabis users have with the plant. By that I do not mean people who are beginners or whatever but the people who talk about selling this and that and not working. GET A JOB! I recommend reading the scriptures. Actually from what you posted I mainly agree, an air stone or two is a great thing, you will get vastly increased vegetation, the results of which should be easily visible from day to day. As for your temperature range, according to experts such as Jorge Cervantes the Ideal temp is 78F. As for the mylar, go for it, but try to make sure it has a minimum of creases or bends as these tend to create hot spots, however his suggestion of using it as an undercoat for reflection at the bottom of the leafs is very wise. I also agree with using fans, or an ocsilating fan, there was a theory postulateed on another board that though pigments may reach a maximum absorbtion potential that wind aka air movement causing the leafs to viberate significantly increases the chances of the individual pigments catching stray photons, this working exceptionally well for green light which the majority is usually bounced of. I have personally seen the benefits of this technique in action and I stand behind that. As for LED (660nm "Far Red") I've been doing a ton of research myself and going over the popular threads on the topic and as of now, and according to the more knowledged, I would not go with a 5mm or 10mm type, Cree Xlamps, Luxeon Rebels, and the extremely high powered Ledengin 5W, 10W, 15W, could achieve far more dramatic results while consuming nearly equal power, the downside is initial expense and expertise needed to construct a panel. Though I don't have solid leads for you I have been looking into Edison bulb type high power LEDs that could easily be put on positional or track lighting, I suggest you look into that if you like I lack the requistie skills to build your own panel.

On another note, I believe the AeroGarden to be a solid product with a few Cannabis related design flaws, but if we were to say lets modify the lighting with high PAR (photo active radiation) LEDs in place of the far better spectrum but lower intensity CFLs, and then at the same time made some kind of modification for reservoir size, say 1 gal. per plant site. I do believe it could be perfect for plants around 2' which is basically autoflowers or anything on a 3 month cycle.

Sidequestion anyone know what 7 Autflowering at the peak of veg or flower consume in water per plant?

i saw your mini set-up. i'm heading in that direction. i've got an aerogarden, but have removed the stock light and am using a cfl that puts out the same light ats a 150w metal halide. is this sufficient light/heat for what i'm doing? the stock aerogarden top comes with 2 small cfl's, and they have done good on their own so far, but i have height restraints, so i want to move them to the side/bottom of the plant and put my new, larger cfl w/ reflector over the whole set-up. granted it's only 3 plants, but i want to make sure i have enough strength to grow. i'm using general hydro's floragrow and florabloow, and i have a pump with an airstone that i will put into the tank once the roots reach the water. is there anything i can do to progress my set-up? i'm trying to keep it relatively small for personal use, and this site has tauhgt me so much it's amazing! tek, vanderwalle, tyrannosaurus, you guys are great. i just wanted to ask a couple questions that were specific to my grow, and i figured you all would be the ones to ask. i'm in the states and sketchy about posting pics, but i'll prob go ahead and post em anyway. just started over today, as i was nursing a male for 2 months and just trashed him yesterday.

also wanted to know who was reliable to get seeds to the states with, but that's another story. i think i'm going to go with attitude b/c of their pick n mix option with fems.

the aerogrow comes with these premade seed packs, how'd you make them useable for the weed seeds and what setting do you have it on?
