Aerogarden Update

The Aerogarden works for vegging with the supplied lights only. Extra lights are always good, but the supplied is good enough to veg. It wont flower for shit though... for flowering, you should hook up a HID *(either HPS or MH - 400 watt or larger for serious results), and move to a larger reservoir (keep the aerogarden for new sprouts and veg, and have a serperate flower system).

Free Phx said, For more sponges and aerogarden materials, order 'The Master Gardner' replacement kit for the Aerogarden. I couldnt find anything close enough to the aerogarden growing medium at 3 hydro grow shops. (answer) i use rapped rooters. i trim them down with scissors then drop my seed in they work Grrrreat. but first after you trim them you must rinse them off real good so no particals are left coming off.

Nice. I have a few rapid rooters, but they look pretty dirty. I was thinking they might gunk up the filter in the pump. But, if you rinse em enough, it probably will work.

The new aerogardens, and the master gardner kits come with these cool new sponge holders (net pots?) that snap together (2 pieces). this way, when your ready to move them, you just un-snap the sponge holder, and the root mass is completely free.

I had a hellov a time chopping up the old plastic sponge holders to free the roots without damaging anything.

Another nuwb leason learned i should pass on.... There are 2 little bars that span the width of the reservoir inside. The roots will get tangled up on them. These come out easy with a little pull. you can remove them without screwing up the root system at all.

i found this out by pulling and tugging the roots to get them free, and the little bars wiggled loose. I was like (SLAP FOREHEAD) omg... after removing, getting the plants out is cake.

dont you pro growers think if u put cfls around the shitty lights of the ag u could end up with decent nugs. cuz i have had good results with cfls and i done did the hps and fuckin hp but str8 up dont u guys think cfls around the dank would result in colas and not sticks and puffs

when my aerogarden arrives i am going to try to add a couple cfl's to the hood and possibly a few for the side....if u dont use extra lighting you will more than likley run out of smoke before your next grow completes. i will test this with the extra cfl's and if that doesnt satisfy my needs i will move up to the400w HPS. I will be posting a grow journal when the time comes.

Reading through this thread convinced me to give this method a try, as well. I picked one up at my local brew-n-grow store, and I didn't bother removing the other seeds from the grow pack included, so this should be interesting......(probably not a smart move, but oh well).

I didn't find anywhere information about the nutrients included, until I went to throw the box away. That was the only place I found info about them, anyway. Thought I'd throw them out there:

AeroGrow Time-Release Nutrient Tablets:
Weight..................................50 grams
Guranteed Analysis:
Total Nitrogen(N)....................5%
Available Phosphate(P2O5)........11%
Soluble Potash(K2O).................24%

AeroGrow Time-Release Nutrient Tablets:
Weight...................................18 grams
Guaranteed Analysis:
Total Nitrogen(N).....................5%
Available Phosphate(P2O5).........30%
Soluble Potash (K2O).................28%

I just planted yesterday (8/11/07).

i use rapped rooters in my AeroGarden. i trim them down with scissors then drop my seed in they work Grrrreat. but first after you trim them you must rinse them off real good so no particals are left coming off to clog up your pump i have never had a problem. also you can transfer them to dirt when your ready. just drop the hole rapped rooter into dirt.

Anybody here consider trying the Sea of Green method using a AeroGarden... One major downside to this would be having to have a separate grow location for a mother plant. Plus you might need to go with 2 AeroGarden's for flowering since yield wouldn't be super great with only 7 plants using SoG method, not without offsetting/stacking the flowering cycle in 2 AeroGarden's (hope that makes sense) Id really like to try this, but i just dont have the money to waste on something that might not work,,, Therefore I figure Id post my suggestion here and see if any of you current AeroFarmers might be interested in experimenting and posting some results for me... If it works for one of you then I might really consider purchasing a AG

I just got my AG and I ordered my seeds through Nirvana. I am in the US and they got to me safe and secure in about 10 days. I got the Papaya seeds because of the low height and short grow cycle. This is my first time so I am going just with the nutes that came with it. Read all of the threads that have anything to do with the AG from start to finish and you will find out alot of info.

A chick I dated had an AG she was trying to grow tomatoes in. I think the plugs were 1/2 or 3/4" rockwool........

I wouldn't advise spending your money on one..........but it's up to you. I can tell you that I started with a Phototron way back when..........maybe late 80's...... A great system for learning pruning techniques and a killer cloner.........but they are bonsai plants and the yield is very low(much what I'd expect from AG)...... I went to a 175 watt MH in a closet and was floored by the difference.....I kept using the phototron as a cloner until it crapped out.....but what a waste of money really...... What do AGs run $150?? For that you can buy 7 2 tube shop lights or wait until you have another $100 to buy an HID.......and really grow!!
If you already own one.......I'd just skip veg stage.....clone it and as soon as it roots...go to the 12/12 setting...........BTW...I'm pretty sure their site tells you what the cycles are set at..............I remember seeing something on the site when I was ordering a new float for her........It's been two years...but I'd think you can still find it...or call them and get the info.......Just tell them you have mini mums that need a short day cycle to bloom.............
