i just read this whole post, and a bunch of other full posts, but i still have some questions.

1)do you have to refill the water(if so, how much?)

2)NUTES, can i get a "schedule" by weeks, of how much to put in, and when.(i am going to use fox farm)

3)i know nothing about PH levels, if they are at the wrong levels, how do i get them to the right levels?(and what are the right levels?)

4)any general things to do for caring for the plants(this is my first grow, so even if its somthing small, i probly dont know to do it, so help me out)

well i havnt started mine yet but iv been spending hours on here reading the threads, now for the water i know some people change it, and some just re fill the rez with spring water (which im going to be doing), i know during Veg they use little water but during Flower they drank that shit up, now for nutes i kno nothing of, im going to order the AG nutes which has a buffer so you never have to chech the PH (again, some people do check it but others dont) and the PH i think is between 5 and 7 or somthing, dont go off of that im guessing from what i remeber reading, and the gerneral care for the plants is different for the AG because you basically set it and leave it, but you should also read the FAQ for help, so i hope that helps a lil, again this is off of what i kno so far

yeah i accually have been reading all day yesterday too. i found out everything i need to know. accept how to adjust the Ph levels of the nutes? do the nutes come in liquid form, and you can just use the Ph up/down to adjust the levels of the nutes? And how much nutes i should use, and when to use them

Below I answer your questions based on experiance but it is only my opinion.

Plants drink water so yes you have to "top up the res". I recommend cleaning and dumping out the res every other week to reduce the chance of nute build up. Depending on a lot of different conditions sometimes your plant will drink more water and sometimes it will drink more nutes. If your plant is drinking more water then nutes and you keep topping off the tank then you start increasing the nutes in the tank and you will get nute burn. This is where PPM meters come in but you dont really need one for small grows in my opinion but they would be cool ( I dont have one and dont know much about them ) They are pretty expencive.

You NEED to get a PH tester and PH up and PH down. This in my mind is a must. A plant will get nute block if the PH level is too off. These kits are cheap. You can get one on line or at a hydro shop. I dont recomend a pool or hot tub one because they dont tend to go low enough. You dont need a digital one ( although cool! )

4)any general things to do for caring for the plants(this is my first grow, so even if its somthing small, i probly dont know to do it, so help me out)
1. Keep lights close so that plant grows short and bushy ( if lights are to far away from the plant will streach tall and it will be hard for CFL's light to penetrate to lower branches due to low lumens.
2. Check PH levels everyday ( If PH levels are off dump and replace water - AG res only holds 1 gallon so PH fluxuations can be dramatic and if you dump PH up or down into res it such a small amount of water you can over compensate easely.
3. Buy more CFL's for side lighting. 6500K for Veg - 2700K for flower ( Although I use both for flower and find that this gives more dence buds with the cost of a slightly longer flowering period.
4. Buy the figure 8 cord to conect to the AG main light so that you can have it on its own timer.
5. Buy airstone and pump.
6. Personaly I recomend once the roots hit the water and you have an airstone and pump to TURN OFF the AG. This promotes healthier roots. An AG over waters imo so by turning off the watering feture and having an airstone turns your AG into a DWC unit.

Once again this is only my opinion but this based off of growing with the AG and reading these forums and using some of the teqnieques based of trial and error.

thanks. do you know if its safe to leave in a verrry small cardboard box? like a box pretty much the size of the AG.(like it will just fit in the box perfectly)

BUT the temps would get pretty high and the plant wont like that. You sort of need some sort of ventilation. Cool air in and hot air out.

werd. because im doing this in a dorm. under my bed hhaa. its going to be mad sketchy and restricting to what i can do which sucks

Just build a stealth grow box with carbon filter. Search google or these forums. Other people have done it. I remember seeing a pic of a guy on these forums with one and he had a pic of his desk with the cabinet open and closed and you would have NO IDEA it was even there. Get creative or wait till you move out of the dorms.

what are you guys' views on led lights? i'm on like week 6 or 7, and think it's time to start flowering? ive got one plant in with herbs and just kind of did a test run with my AG and one seed to work out the bugs. have some black haze waiting to go into the pods next and then i wanna run some lowryder. my plant is tall and spindly and i was wondering why that is? i tried to keep it pinched, but i was afraid to hurt it. ive been using stock nutes and had the garden on strawberries. i just set it on tomatoes as per reading your like 700 post topic on the AG and i'm just waiting now. any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated. also, a friend of mine told me to put some dry ice in a bucket in the closet with my plant for a the 2 days prior to cutting. he said it turns the whole cola deep purple. is there any truth to this or does anyone know? thanks for the advice and keep on keepin on

i recently purchased a a.g and im doing it on the tomatoe's setting and it seems to be doing fine so far on 18 light/6 hrs dark and im seeing the roots growing at a rapid rate..also i heard the warmer the water is the faster the roots will grow.. if anyone knows more about the settings .. for instance the tomatoes is 18\6 does anyone know the other amount of hours ..

Christ--Do some homework. There is a ton of info on growing in the AG. Read a little and you will get all you need.

If I had a aerogarden in my kitchen, where there is a tiny bit of light that can breach through my living room will that efect the dark period that its supposed get. Or should I pick it up & put it in my cloest during that time if I can ? How does that process work with a AG ? Thanks

yea put it in your closet, get a figure 8 cord and a timer so you can control the lights, and a airstone too if you havnt got one, these are the two key thing into making it alot easier

just wasted 2 months on a male before trashing. started over today. what i wanted to ask was, how soon can you sex the plants? i've got 7 going now, and want to weed out the males/weakest asap. i know what a male looks like now, but don't know how/when i can tell early.

i think it's big bud, tiger bloom, and 1 other. cha-ching maybe? they sell them in a 3 pack together. that's the best deal. general hydroponics also has a line called floragrow, florabloom, and microgrow. check those out also.
