Aeroponic Cloner Question

i just built my first aeroponic cloner and took some cuttings about 3 days ago, all the clones seem to be doing well just kind of wondering when i should start seeing signs of roots, since this is my first time im keeping a very close eye. Kind of wondering if the misters i put on should be splashing the stem underneath cuz the Clonex rooting hormone seemed to wash off, is that normal??. i leave the pump on 24/7 so water is constantly splashing around the inside, this is their 3rd day and i check them and it still just looks like a stem cutting, is that normal? Ive read it takes about 7 days or so but when should i be seeing signs that they are going to all root succesfully

any input would be appreciated

you should put your pump on a timer, they will root much quicker. pics would help to know what the clones look like. did you cut off parts of the leaves or you leave the whole cutting intact? could take up to 2+ weeks, esp with the pump on 24/7.

I run mine 24/7 without issue and I use no cloning gel just straight into the tub and how long it takes to root depends on the strain. Your rez temp needs to be 70ish and you do know they proper way to cut them right? You will see small little bumps start to form and then pop goes the root.

Is clonex the rooting powder or gel? I did not have much luck with the powders but had 99% success with the gel.
I don't use a clone machine but don't frown on those who do. I personally just pot up a bunch in peat/lite mix, keep them humid and misted a lot. I usually see roots in about two wks and using the device you mentioned you should get approx the same results

yeh to cut the stem at a 45 degree angle dipped it in the gel and cut the tips of the leaves, starting to see some yellowing but thats normal.... and dannyboy i used the gel, got a little pack of it at the hydro store for $5 gave me just enough for 30 cuttings....havent checked the rez temp but the pump in their and the light big t5 light i have probably warm it up to around there....its also been pretty hot this week where im am so that helps a bit......im probably just a little anxious thats all since my very first attempt at cloning wasnt very successfull, but i used a different method and didnt do a few things i should have ;P

OK this answer could not be more wrong.. First off you want water on them 24/7 ESPECIALLY in aero. Even having the water off for an hour or 2 can kill them. I know it has happened to me when I forgot to plug the pump back in and 2 hours later they were all shriveled to crap. Also I would put water at about 5.8-6.0 that worked well for me and usually saw roots in about 5-7 days although depending on strain it could take 10-14 days.

Not wrong just incomplete. Some people do use timers 5 min on 5min off 15 min on 5 off, hell there are a million combos out there that people swear by using an areo cloner. Some say ph the water to ... ... or ... ... some say to add this or that bark three times at the moon while doing the tango or use sand to kill root aphids. If you have healthy mothers, you have some what clean equipment , you have researched the proper way to clone your areo cloner should work with straight tap water non ph'ed temp at a cool 70 degrees and run it 24/7. Roots come as the strain dictates some 4 days some 14. I do add the correct amount of Hydrozyme to keep shit out of the water but that's it. I have run 5 sets of clones on one rez before never changing the water and the only reason was I felt dirty. My take on successful clones is its the mother and how you prepare the clone that makes or breaks popping clones in areo. Trial and error sucks but the simpler you make it the better chance of success you will have. I too have left my shit unplugged FUCK!!

I apologize that is correct, I thought when he said timer I was thinking he meant like every 4 hours or what not I guess I should have asked for clarification before making myself sound like an ass. I did not use anything when I used the aero cloner so it was bare stalk with nothing to keep moisture at base like a rapid rooter plug or rock wool. the good thing is that having a timer make it go off for just a few min helps keep the water temp lower also which can be an issue in aero if pump is on 24/7 because the pump will heat up the water. I used a water chiller tho so never had that issue.

I took about 40 clones and popped them in my aerocloner on 4/25. Today, I have 4 clones with roots. its 5/8.
That's about 2 weeks? Cycle timer 30 mins on, 30 mins off. Straight tap water in there.
I'd recommend using a timer for your pump. Dont just leave it on 24/7

Do you have an air pump pumping air into your res in addition to the water pump? My clones had tap roots in 4-7 days. Strains were Jockhorror, Citral and PPP. My pump remains on 24/7. I am sure there are different opinions and more than one successful method for cloning.

Did you get the PPP from Nirvana seeds?
One of the phenotypes we had a few years back was so frosty!
Love that piney/citrus smell

Can't confirm it was from Nirvana. As it was given by a friend of a friend. But, I can confirm it's frosty as hell as described! Finished flowering in my last round in soil in 58 days. Can't wait to see how long in my new ebb n flow bucket system.
