Aeroponics/DWC Combo?

Any ideas on how well this might work?

I'm planning on putting a pump down in a rubbermaid-type storage box with a snap on lid (finding one that pops on relatively tight).

The water level will be about 8" deep..

I'm planning on rigging up a sprinkler system along the edge, as well as down the middle (so the middle sprays towards the edges, and the edges spray towards the middle)

I figure I'd give the roots about 12-24" of air, and then 8-12" deep water under that.

Does anyone think this combo system would work very good? I think it would be cheap to construct and you wouldn't have to worry about leaks..and as far as spray nozzles that dong clog I think I found some at home depot that spray 180 degrees, by spraying a thicker jet of water straight up which hits a 'deflector' which directs it into a spray, kinda like this (the :'s are raindrops, the thing in the mid is the sprinkler with a jet and the ( is the 'deflector')

Attached is a pic i did in mspaint real quick (on a laptop w/ a touchpad mouse) so it sux baddddd

but you get the idea

Btw any opinions I can get out of you guys on which method of nutrition delivery is best for fast growing & bomb bud?

Thanks for reading,

Other systems are combinations of the two. The Rainforest is. I don't know if I see the point. If it works well it might get roots growing faster but once the reach the water it is just DWC (not that there is anything wrong with that!). But if I wanted to do aero I think I'd do all aero - the entire rootmass is aeroponically fed.

So once the roots reach the water, the parts of the roots that'll still be hanging 12-14" in the air will no longer draw up nutrients from the misters?

I'm not saying the part of the roots that are exposed won't uptake nutes, just that once the roots are in the water the significance of what happens in the misty airspace will decline. It goes from 100% aeroponic to perhaps 20%.

cesarmix: either in the top left or top right of the forum where you want to post a thread you'll see a 'new thread' button or something similar, just click it ;)

illegal; thanks man I didn't fully understand but now I kind of do..the main ball will be down in the tank towards the end..wasn't thinking about that.

I think I'm going to try to put PVC aeroponics setup inside the reservior (i'm doing small small scale grows) I think I could fit like 6 plants in 1 rubbermaid bucket if i run 2x3plant sections of PVC to do the aeroponics inside of..then just have those drain into the rubbermaid and the pump recycle it back to the misters..

That's the design I like. Get that perfected and I might buy one from you!
