OK first off, advertising works. I saw the commercials, thought Hmmm " I could do that " ordered one, 7 pods, hood raises 3 ft. cool, and here we go.
Great!
I've got just the piece of furniture in mind to transform. :-P

Secondly the AeroGarden reserviour is too small. I now understand this and will see if it can be overcome!

The grow area after mods works out to 36"widex18"deepx36"tall.

Right, so early on I dealt with heat issues and PH problems.Added 2 Home Depot bath exhaust fans in top of cabinet @ $14.00 each. Nice and cool now in cab Mid 70s to low 80s running 300w of CFLs plus AG hood. Reservoir temps 72 to 74 with cover in place, lights on, to 68 to 72 without lights. Lowered PH.

Nice setup, I had temp problems with my aerogarden too, I grew a plant that was 2 inches tall in 2 months lol. Growing soil now, but am gonna bust out the aerogarden next time and add a 300 watt hps. Keep it Green!

Thanks SHOSHON3N8TV, I think thats because the AG's res is so small any mistakes can be hard to overcome. I have had a few...

Well once I got my temps down and PH balanced, everything started happening really fast.

I'm using House and Garden Aqua Flakes A&B neuts.
Tap water that I let sit for 24hrs. I check the PH and Adjust at least once a day, but trying not to chase every little change, maintaining about 6.0. Don't want to make that mistake again, but I can get a little obsessed, and did haha...

I have added CLF's to the cab as was nesessary for veg.
4 5000k @ 27watts, and 4 6500k @ 24 watts.

The pics are week three from germ. They came back so strong that I started topping them.. :leaf:

I was a little paranoid at first about posting so my time line is a little out of whack.

Week Four :

Things are coming along nicely..
Starting to have a bit of an odor issue.
I like it wife does not...ha...so we fix, ha ha :-P

received lots of great ideas , ending up using a combo of 3 things that are working well.
I'm just glad to have the problem..

By now I can see the main issue with the AG...

With 5 plants I have a shit load of roots....And they are thirsty, very thirsty...and small res means Lots of upkeep...

So when they show their gender I WILL TRIM THE ROOTS back.The technique has been posted here on RIU, but not in a AeroGarden. :eek:

This is why I'm posting now. If someone has some input nows the time. They will show sex any day now..

Have you got a TDS (ppm) or EC meter? It's real easy to overfeed those girls.

Hey man THIS THREAD IS AWESOME!!! I just recently came across a used aerogarden from a friend who doesn't want it anymore and am just getting started with it. I had the same idea and am gonna convert a dresser around the same size and yours looks like the ideal one for me. I have just ordered the seed kit with the pods to get started and should be recieving them soon! I'm looking forward to keeping up with this journal man! Good luck and Happy Growing!!!

Thanks, I have a TDS meter. Its amazing how you can watch them use the nutes from day to day. I tried not to burn them again..so far so good. Sure hope a couple at least are girls... I need to create some room in the res it getting crowded in there..

Here we go. I've cranked up all the light the cab can handle.

Running AG hood + 12, 25watt cfls.
4 2700k @24watts
4 5000k @ 27watts
4 6500k @ 27 watts = a little more than 300 watts I guess, anything hotter and the cab will need more mods...

They are drinking close to a gallon a day. The damn res only holds 3/4 of a gallon. I've got roots filling about a third of the res up. Feeding them breakfast, and dinner...Sure hoping they will show thier sex soon.
Time line is almost current now..Germinated seeds on 03/19-

These pics are up to date....Today is day 34 from germination...
