I think there’s potential, maybe, in some of these old lines. Same with TNF. It’s ok to have a healthy skepticism of anyone “opening their vault” of old seeds like this. Not a fan of the name authentic genetics and all the backstory he gives each line. Comes off as cheesy and cash grabby. In the end Idc about that or what he did in life, so long as he isn’t scamming people or grossly misrepresenting what he has. Otherwise let the seeds do the talking.
I picked up his first release of the NL5. The purest indica and nl2 sound good too. Don’t know about his skunk but i wasn’t impressed with his jack herer x skunk 1 cross. Very midsy. Who knows about his haze. I think it’s his selections of old sam stuff he had. Haze is another rabbit hole. Good for breeding, otherwise expect to grow hay.

I have 5 NL#2 going right now. Early sprouts, will post here when I have interesting pics. But, to add to this. A friend of mine is running the NL#5 and they are in flower right now. So far, based on the NL I used to get in the early 2000s the AG strains are very very much like what I used to get back in the day. I personally think that his offerings are legit. The seed stock that the classics came from at the very least. I'm cool with it lol

I have found over the years that it is all about managing expectations. The way I see it, at the very least we get to grow genetics from 40 years ago. The same seed stock that some classics came from. Practically landraces at this point lol. There is a ton of opportunity to find/work something really special. Down the IBL line or making unique hybrid crosses. Like I mentioned before a buddy of mine is growing AGs NL#5 and after sniffing the shit out of it regardless of if its "real" or not. I really like it, one pheno is tropical "melon" mixed with pure incense like nag champa.

This thread is really something. People get worked up about things like they have some personal stake when really they don't. If you don't like the story behind the gear don't buy or grow it. Freedom of choice.
Cannabis is full of all sorts or people: weirdos, egotistic and sketchy people. And some down to earth normal folks. This is how Todd comes off to me based on the potcast, but I could be wrong. I don't know him personally and probably never will. But the same goes for every breeder in the game, I'll probably never know them. I can only go based on the available info and make a value judgement. Then see how the gear grows...
I am not the type to separate the art from artist, or the seeds from the breeder in this case. I'd like the breeders to be decent people if I choose to grow their stuff, ideally anyways. I like growing forum breeders gear, the small scale guys.

I bought the grow fund me 5 strains. Very reasonable sale price. Have some purest indica started, 4 plants. Will see what happens, proof and pudding and all that. It's four out of these shown, the white spots is leftover sulphur from ipm.

Finally found it on the way back machine...
He says he got it from Cheebah in the description, and you can still find old forum posts of people saying HC had the real deal at $200 to $500 a pack. I wouldn't fault the dude for selling seeds at 10% the price from the dude who, at the time, was widely considered one of the last people to have RSK.

the skunk weed is still out there but what he had clearly wasnt it, the real skunk weed wasnt a pure indica it was a hybrid. thats why i knew it wasnt legit when i saw it. when i was younger i used to handle alot of it not only that i saw what the plants looked like and it was clearly a hybrid based on the leaf expression of the plants.

You're talking about "skunk" smelling plants.
The colloquial RKS is different from Heimie Chiebas RKS... There are large forum posts dedicated to the hunt for real skunk, and alot of people are working very hard to find it, but its a fickle mistress.
For the sake of people finding this thread later, here's what Todd's website used to say about RKS

his came to me as Roadkill Skunk/RKS from Heime in Alaska and I was told that it is an old cross from the early 80's. Heime gave me the go ahead to make some of the seeds available because of the demand within the community.
After growing it, I find it to be pretty authentic, but not as rich in terpenes as I remember, although it does smell like some pretty sour stink.
The flowers are nice, none of them became hermaphrodite, yield is good and all of the ladies made great resin production. I think it is definitely worth breeding with, which is why I am making these seeds available and continuing to work with it myself.
After selection, I made a small batch of F2 seeds for myself and there are enough to share in a small drop.
In my opinion, this is a classic Afghan, when I showed it to Mel Frank he also thought it looked a lot like the 70's Afghan varieties that had a sour smell, good structure and average cannabinoid content
I've read that potassium is key for the "skunk" terpene production and it isn't as shelf stable as other terpenes. Supplementing for potassium may help boost the skunk profile a bit. I am going to run AG skunk next year and am goin to see if a product like Terpinator (potassium sulfate) can assist in that effort. Would have to do an A/B comparison to really find out but should be fun.
