air cooled hood question!

whats up everybody. I was curious as to, if youre using a remote ballast.. lets say 400w? would you be able to use ANY air cooled hood as long as the ballast will attach (via the cord) to the hood?...... or if it was a 600w hood you could only use a 600w ballast and so on and so forth. i will appreciate any input. Thanks!

I have an air cooled question as well and this looks like a good thread instead of starting a new one. My hood is a yeildmaster 2 supreme. Which way will be the coolest running. Blowing the air directly on the bulb or the other side where the socket is. Or does it matter?

I don't think it matters, air from one way or the other still removes the heat.

From my understanding, you want to suck air through the fixture, as in air into the lamp from outside the tent, through the lamp, through some pipe, through the blower, out some pipe, and into another room/vent/whatever.

You DONT need carbon filtration if you do it this way, you can get a stand up unit for your grow closet or the room outside of it. The exhaust will be 100% non marijuana becuase it never sucks air out of the grow area.

you can use any hood on any ballast if the cable fits but be carefull you dont have a remote starter thats on the reflector and also have one in the ballast its mostly cannatronics that have there starters on the reflectors not in the ballast

Thanks for the replies.

I'm cooling two hoods with one fan. When I get air outside the room it seems to get hotter. Sucking in the hot air through the fan and blowing it through the hoods to the attic is my current setup. I do not have the filter on right now. I plan to add it back soon though.

An stand up air unit? If your selfmade tent is in The top floor how are you able to get this exhaust/intake fresh air?
