Air cooling hood set up help!!

Hey!

This is our first grow room and we are learning as we go. We have done a ton of research but we aren't the most mechanically savvy people in the world. We can't seem to figure out a good set up for our air cooling. We have the ducting and the fan but how on earth do you set it up effectively?? Is the fan supposed to be close to the hoods??? Because right now I have the fan in an other room attached to the ducting which runs to the hoods then back out to the other room.....am I missing something here? I think it is working as far as cooling it goes but it looks ridiculous.

Thoughts?

Do you have a window or ventilation in the room?

Is that 10 in ducting?

That is 8in ducting and I don't have any windows. Just an a.c. air vent and the door.

So you have ac for your room but no exhaust.

get reducers down to 6 inch. Because your going to have to drill 2 holes in the wall .

If you want to air cool your hood.

I bet if you have ac, you could probably take the glass out of your hood and just grow.

Looks like they could get away with just drilling one. Attach the filter on one side of the light, and on the other, attach the fan and the duct work and exhaust out. Do you guys have the ability to drill into the floor? You could do that instead, and exhaust there. It's either that or the wall though, because all that heat has to go somewhere. You guys just have a floor/ceiling vent for the central AC, right? Not a dedicated AC unit for the room? Problem with that, is the thermostat is gonna be in a different room, and is only gonna turn on when that thermostat feels like it needs to turn on in that room, not in your grow room. Me, personally, I'd make a new dedicated vent right next to the AC vent, and vent the heat out that way, with only one duct, and the other side of the lamp connected to your filter. That way, you'd be using passive cooling, gathering cooler air from other parts of your area, while getting rid of the waste heat so it's no longer a factor.

I was thinking two holes because if he has to use ac then you don't really want to suck your cold air outside. You suck air from another part of the house or outside through your light then your fan blows this hot air from your hood outside

eah if it's just central air for your entire house. Your going to have a hard time trying to make it just do that room

It wouldn't *all* be getting sucked up. But I see where you're coming from. Remember, when the door is closed and its properly setup with just one exhaust, its going to be sucking air in from the entire house. The crack at the bottom of the door is gonna whistle to them lol. Either way would work fine. You're suggestion has it's pros and cons, as does mine. I just felt like it would be simpler for them to do one hole, if I read their initital post right. Plants lookin pretty good though arent they! they better get it figured out soon!

You guys got options. But step one I'd buy a reducer and 6inch hole saw or borrow one from a friend. And a stud/ wire finder lol. Don't blindly drill

did anyone ask if they own or rent? you can get away with shit inside if you rent, but drilling large holes in exterior walls have a way of drawing landlords, with questions.
and is odor an issue? if it is, you have to pick a method that uses a filter. if it's not an issue, the open vented hood option seems like it would have the least ducting to run (the open air vid), all you have to do is run duct off of your open hoods to the fan, then to your exit..
if you need to use a filter, i'd go something like the second vid.

Pretty sure whether they rent or own, if they aren't supposed to be growing, a vent hole in the floor is gonna be the least of their worries when a landlord walks in and sees THAT
Filtration is good regardless if smell is an issue because it doesn't just filter smell. Cleans room of dust, mold spores, etc.

We own the house so no big deal there. Smell is not an issue at all. We have no neighbors in sight. Currently in that pic we only have 2 hoods being air cooled through our wacky exhaust layout but it is working. It's just that we also have 4 other lights to cool down as well....we have 3 fans and a whole bunch of ducting but are having a hard time figuring out the best way to cool all the lights without having these huge ducting snakes all around.

pardon my drafting abilities, but this is what i'd do, utilizing two of your fans. then you have a backup if one breaks down.
minimal ducting, all overhead (if you make an exit hole)

I love this idea but how do we connect the fan to the light? The fan is pretty heavy and will off set the balance of the light I think??

you either have to hang it from the ceiling, or...you can run ducting from the lights to the fans, where they are sitting on a solid surface, like a shelf you've mounted close to your exit hole

again, don't make fun of my drafting ability

Buy rope ratchets and hang your fan from the ceiling

Im a noob.. So i cant offer ideas from my past experience but... Theres a ton of folks here that can..

That being said.. All you need is this to look neater? Because its functioning?
