i am a bit puzzled about how to do this. i understand air exchange is important for healthy plants. i run a 400cfm inline 24/7 at low-speed to do it. this has probably cost me a little more in electricity but i don't care if it gets the job done. i'm wondering if other people do the same with a passive air intake system? is it smarter to put the fan on a timer so it only works at certain intervals, thus saving energy? I was thinking about that but i'm not sure if it would be worse for my fan's lifespan.
i have a timer but it's not in use right now, i'm waiting until i switch to MH/HPS. I was wondering how common it is to run 2 separate timers, one for the lights to run 18/6 or 12/12 or whatever, and one for a big fan like mine to exchange air.
what do you think is the most effective (and safe) way to do this? thanks
