AIR FLOW/odor leakage?? critiques plz!

Hey guys I'm building a micro stealth grow box out of 1" thick wood. The one thing I'm worried about is whether or not weather stripping the door is going to be enough to keep the air enclosed? In other words to keep the odor enclosed?

I will indeed have an cpu intake at the bottom and then an exhaust at the top with plastic duct that leads into a co2 filter then out into the air. With just nail/wood glue holding the wood together, might I have any odor leakage? Is there any recommendations for the type of stripping i should use for the door?

any help would be great thanks a lot,

really sorry if anything of the sort has been posted but I tried searching multiple times now and couldn't find anything to answer my question.

weather stripping is fine for a tight seal if done properly
airtight isn't completely necessary if you maintain the fan flow 24 hours a day, you just need the positive airflow out through some odor control setup, carbon filter usually
the fan suction should pull air through the small cracks which is effectively a seal
if you don't have the fan on 24 hours a day then you have to much fussier with seals

I would suggest just going to walmart or any hardware store and getting a negative ion generator they usually have them on air purifiers you can get a pretty nice one for like 20 bucks

hmm 20 bucks eh? would this be placed inside the grow box, or near it outside? Does anyone have any experience using these in comparison to co2? I'm wondering how much noise it might make.

I was speaking to the guy at my local hardware store and he was telling me with his one plant in his closet his whole house was reaking of plant smell. Does the plant start to stench as soon as it sprouts or a couple weeks in or what?

depends a lot on strain, but the worst case is a single female could stink up your house during flowering

the plant wont start smelling til you flower it, that was the case with me anyway, dont know bout other strains but mine didnt start smelling til i put it to flower,

if your worried bout the smell seeping through the gaps in the box, get some bathroom silicone or duct sealant and run it down the gaps.

I doubt the negative ion thing will help. I used ozone for a bit and the smell was just too strong and I didn't want to hurt my health with the ozone. Fan blowing air in, fan blowing air out, and a carbon filter on the end and you are ready.

yeah i think ill just go with the co2. Thanks a lot guys, i think i'm good to go. I'm going to germinate today and hopefully before the 2 week mark my box will be ready and then i should have virtually no odor-related worries. Can't wait to start my grow journal and box tutorial!! =D Especially since me and mary-jane are going on a 90 day/"until harvest" break. I miss her :'(

i've seen some that say the negative ion trick works if your air is still
for most of us, that isn't going to work - need fan/vent - never tried the negative ion, but might try it soon

Just place the air purifier/ion generator right by where your growing your plants your closest to them if possible and it should take care of the smell. They will start smelling about 2-3 weeks into flowering.

With 2 flowering plants 3 weeks into growing, using a $64 air purifier/ion generator, my house stinks. I'm searching my ass off on RIU to find a decent Carbon Filter.

At the moment, as soon as the front door is open, the smell is over powering. A lovely smell, but not something to be broadcasting ;)

Get a carbon filter ;)
