Air pruning liners....

Okay.... this is just a quick little thread to show some of you two different liners you may or may not know of.

The first are called Rootmakers and these come in 4 packs... in bundles of 960. You may find them somewhere being sold in smaller quantities...I don't know.

Here is a pic of how a plant which germed on the 14th of March....so about 3 1/2 weeks old (meaning they have been above ground for that long), and ready to move up to a larger pot. Notice the root system.

Moving along I have an example of an Accelerator liner which has a tray which holds 32 of these. Rootmakers are square, and Accelerators are round. This example is of a plant which germed at the very same time. All were planted together on the same day...and all germed within 7 days...again making them about 3 1/2 weeks above ground. All ready to upgrade.
Here is that pic.

Now of course not all plants grow identically but this is about as close as you can get without using growth regulators on them. Even so, at this early stage....it wouldn't matter.

Finally, a simple pic of my soil. This is 50% nursery professional grade soil mixed with 25% compost and 25% leaf mold.

And this is what it looks like.....

You may compare this to whatever you are using and decide for yourself if this is something you want. At least..... now you know.

P.S. All my seeds are planted straight into soil....into these liners. Within 7 days...everyone popped 100% and nothing for me to move.

And that's it.....:peace:

Hey, you created a thread I was thinking of doing!

I love love love these liners!

My only problem is transplanting from the RootMakers... the tiered squares are a pain for me to dislodge the soil & roots from the liners without breaking it apart. Do you have any "tricks" to get around this?

The round Accelerator liners are a cinch to pop out the soil & roots without disturbing a thing. :hump:

Since getting the great deal I was offered for the liners  and trying them out first hand, I quickly went and ordered 30 of the 1 gallon RootMaker pots for my mini SOG setup, and will be getting some 3 gallon ones for my mothers ASAP. (Rootmaker's 1 & 3 gallon pots are round, BTW.)

I haven't found a site for Accelerators that sells in smaller quantities yet, but RootMaker's site does. Here are their liners, and here are their pots.

Thanks kat.... great to see you again.

Well, I hopefully have a much stronger hand than you do......hope so. I let them dry a bit so the soil sucks in just a bit....then I turn them 90 degrees and do a "Charmin" squeeze on each side and even the bottom sides...since they are tiered. This almost always gives me 100% removal.

Yes, I knew the Root 1 & 3's were round. I have a few 3's laying around somewhere....I ordered 20 of them when I did my bulk order on the liners 2 years ago. I have well...lots and lots of pots...and sometimes it's a needle in a haystack.

You will be very impressed with the 1's as they should give the same result as my 3's....massive root system evenly spread out....no "black holes" (nursery slang).

Keep me posted!! They really are a great improvement, and worth every penny paid.
