with dwc and bubbleponics you need to have a lot of bubbles. You should probably have 2-3 airstones space across the bottom your tub. I used 3, 10 inch flexible foam air-stones along the bottom of my tub. You can pretty much any air-stones, I like the medium sized ones.

You'll also need a powerful air-pump to get the most oxygen to your roots as possible. If you buy the really cheap walmart pumps, you'll probably need a pump for each air-stone.

*edit: I used the 20watt pump from this page: http://www.ecogrow.com/index.cfm/product/1632/mid/21/nid/77/home.html

It really depends on whether you are doing dwc OR what is called bubbleponics with the pump and feeder tubes. If the latter, all the bubbles do is oxygenate the water which is important, but doesn't require that much bubble action. But if you will use the bubbles themselves to feed the netcups instead of the tubes, then you need lots of bubble action. You should be able to put your hand a coule inches above the water surface and feel the bubbles breaking. I like the 12 inch airstones that are all stone not stone inlaid in plastic. I use 3 or 4 depending on tote size and this pump http://www.discount-hydro.com/productdisp.php?pid=412&navid=8

$12.99 for Dual or two airstones

VERY Quiet, $9.95 to $19.95, depending on size.

Any place that sells Aquariums has them, like PetCo, Pet Smart, Walmart. They will have the airpumps and tubes and airstones.

There are 6, 8, 10 and 12 inch long airstones for aquariums, like this one:

Airstones are $3.99 to $5.99 depending on lenght.
You can also find round ones, and long AIR DIFFUSERS that make large curtains of air bubbles in the tank.
