Airpots

going to be using these airpots on my next flower cycle

I only have qualitative information about these.
I haven't done any quantitative studies.
The root masses appear denser. I have cracked open dozens of rootmaker rootballs and most of the time I can't even rip them apart because they are so dense. Doing the same to a regular bucket reveals weak root systems with unused areas of medium...

thanks for all the feed back guys... And good pics. That's exactly what i had in mind. Is it logical then that you can use a 3 gallon airpot instead of a 5 gallon normal pot? the smaller airpot would be equally or more effective?

All depends on how big the plant are i just 20 easyryders in that space , i only did 5 this time because im doing big buddha auto critical mass and they are meant to be a big plant but i'll soon find out.

yes, but be warned, most grow bag sizes are a lie.
if it says 3gal, its gonna be just over 2gal. so if you want 3gal, i would recommend 5gal, and just dont fill them all the way.

if you're autoflowering critical mass, they are going to be like 2 feet tall if I understand correctly...
Are those two supposed to have good thc levels? I'm really skeptical about auto flowers. But if I knew of a strain that had verifiable THC, I think autoflowering more plants in smaller airpots would be genius!

Well i went for yield this time and i smoked some a few weeks ago(some i bought) and it was a good smoke so wanted to see what i could get out of 5 in big pots rather than the last time where i had 20 in 2L normal pots, won't be auto flower for a while after these though i just bought a silly amount of seeds different strains

In a word ... Air Pot's are .... AWSOME

I could rave on for hours about them..and tend to do , They are great for lot's of reason's

People always ask about watering ... I applied logic to this and worked out that IF they do dry out quicker than normal pots ...It's a good thing ... We want the plants to be fed nutrient as much as possible ...so a quick drying pot is perfect .

People say they are dirty , When watering you can get some spill and if your soil ( i use coco ) is loose it can spill out of the holes .
This is true .... but it will only happen for the first few waters ...and spillage or run off of any kind should always be removed anyways

A tray or saucer under your pots takes care of that .

The holes and raised bottom also allows air all around your soil ( or coco ) allowing your roots to breath .

I was tipped off about double potting ( dropping one pot into another ) to reduce transplant shock and decided to try it , It worked way better than expected , I produced massive plants and a record breaking crop for the strain i was growing ....and it was my first grow

Convinced that the double potting with Air Pots produced better results , I was challenged to try re potting the normal way and the was blown away by the difference ....Double potting eclipsed the normal potting method by a massive margin .

The Air pots are easy to clean and store when not in use ...Cheap ... Strong ... And made from recycled trash bags ... so a bit Eco

I'm sure im missing something out ....but i think you get the idea so far .... Air Pot's are awesome !

Edit : ...im pretty blazed so i knew i was forgetting something ... The Important thing ... ROOT MASS !

The holes do the job of pruning the feeder roots and promote MASSIVE root growth with zero root bind , The root ball is huge !

Whats this double potting can you explain it a bit more pls? why does it make such a big difference?

I am not worried about the mess. fox farm ocean is very airy stuff and it has to be watered frequently. I'm used to it.

Double potting is the notion of taking 1 pot for instance 3litre taking the bottom off it and planting the whole bottomless pot halfway into your new larger pot.

BOG (bushy older grower) used to do that on another site years ago. I've done it.
Since then, I have just transplanted whether plants are flowering or not. I would rather transplant carefully than keep the plant rootbound or double pot.. but that is personal preference.

i make my own-

look around at the nurseries, home depot, hardware, that type of store. they sell the same fabric that these pots are made of on a roll for landscape purposes. grab a 30 dollar sewing machine off craigslist and you're rockin. i make custom sizes for all stages of my grow.

Hey hey, could you post pics of these and your process?
Sounds cool.
I love my plastic airpots and know the fabric works just as well.. Would be cool to make my own.

As Pointed out by Jmon ( Hi ya J ).. The picture speaks for it's self .

The difference being , You don't need to cut the pot ...I remove the mesh at the bottom of the air pot then just drop it in the new pot ( i use buckets ) and cover with soil and the roots grow thru the holes in the sides and out the bottom

The benefit's being ... No signs of transplant stress or growth interruption , A full bucket of soil for roots to spread out and fill the bucket ( and fill the bucket they do ) , Also allows you to direct feeding , Ether by watering just into the Air Pot or water into the bucket , If you get the balance right you can be watering every day for the full flower cycle without over watering .... more feeding = bigger plants

They are pretty flexi ...i just reach under and bend the mesh and it pops out , No need to undo the pot

Just take your time and you will see it's a bit of a knack , You could always leave the bottom mesh on ( as i did with one ) i never noticed any difference ... I just take them off as part of routine now
