Ive seen one , actually iv grown with one , didnt get the best results but they where good enough for the light .. heres a link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/300w-dual-Spectrum-CFL-grow-light-lamp-Hydroponics-/280705572406?pt=UK_HomeGarden_Garden_PlantsSeedsBulbs_JN&hash=item415b5b1e36 you can get them in duel or single spectrum
Holy smokes, sure enough. Well, maybe OP really does have true 300W CFL... or maybe he doesn't have the light close enough. Bottom line, it is easy enough to get tight nugs with CFL!

How can you tell they are equivalent? I believe you because these adds for lights are tricky - but it seems wrong that it doesn't say "equivalent" anywhere obvious. It does seem like if you're going to use 300 actual watts of CFL - you may as well go all the way and use 400 of mh/hps.

Just my opinion.

Even a 250w mh/hps will most likely outperform a 300w cfl. And those big cfls do get hot too. They seem really impractical to me for many cases.

Totally agree, 300W of CFL is great if you're talking about a bunch of bulbs positioned all around the plant, but I don't see much point in one big hot-ass fixed-position CFL.
