So i started my ak47 seeds today. I germed them for about 2 or 3 days more or less and all of the seeds had popped. I am using Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil with perlite. I placed the seeds in the 1 gallon pots and watered them till i saw water seep from the bottom.

Today I placed the plants in my veg room which has (2) 4ft. t5 tubes each 5000 lumens. I might add more if i want to but im not sure as of right now. I have a small fan in there blowing around air. Pictures of the setup are below.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Also, i know ak's stink real bad and i have the issue covered as my flowering room has o zone generators along with a couple of other ona gels and stuff to counter-act the smell. Thanks guys and tune in!! :joint::joint:

The Veg Room (2 Ft High x 6 ft Long x 3 Ft Deep)

i wouldnt worry about height...they will do well in a scrog with the space u have...even if u werent doing a scrog u could always lst the plants too...

is there a way to make a hole in the cab that could allow for some air circulation? that would help...hmmm aside from adding a vent to the cab im not sure how to decrease temps...what are the temps by the way? are they really hot...like over 80 degrees?

lights off = 70ish low 70's

lights on so far its hit a high of 86
yea...ur definitely gonna have to find a way to vent ur grow cab...86 *so far* is too warm...it'll slow ur growth...i would try and find a way to create a vent and have a fan blow cool air in the cab

so I cut a hole in the side and placed a fan near it with some duct going inside. The fan is blowing air inside the cab and seems to be working fairly well. Lights on it dropped the temps 4 degrees so now its 82 instead of 86 (much better in my opinion). I plan on getting 2 inline duct fans (1 to replace the fan blowing air in and also for exhaust)

I'm going to cut a hole in the top of the cab for exhaust and mount my inline to that. Ill keep you guys (and girls) posted. Thanks for the help

it's that hot with two T 5's, your fuct when you get some real light in there..... Freeze two liter bottles and set them in front of your intake or fan if that is all you have... The more you have the cooler it will get, but remember they will sweat a lot.... Heat manipulation is best with intake an exhaust which you are on your way to.... And get more light, 2 t'5's.... COme on now.... At least double that and then in a couple weeks get them under a halide for a few weeks and then get them under a nice hps or even better mix of both hps and halide and you are on your way to the promise land........ Best of luck

So you think 2 more 4 t5's?

For flower i have a 250 hps that im pretty set on going with and im going to scrog my plants. But you really think i need 2 more 4 footers??

for the heat issue def. get some fans working in and out of there.. if you have a 250 and a hood you could run ducting straight through the hood, add ducting on either side connecting to the cab so you can control the heat in there. also a good way to lower temps is just to run your lamps at night when it is cooler. that can help alot believe it or not.. save on cooling bill as well... also if you get large computer motherboard fans, they are a bit better at extracting air than just a desk fan since you can screw them right into the side of the cab.. just a few thoughts.. good luck, i have been meaning to order some ak seeds, fast flower, great yield, monster buds, monster buzz.. gl

if you don't do the t5's, then make yourself one of those homemade fixtures with some 27 watt bulbs you can pick up at home depot..... I would do halide if I was you... Plant vigor in vedge will determine the mass of your buds and harvest..... 2 t'5s is not going to make your plants grow fast or strong... But they will grow..... If you just put 4 of those little spiral day light fluoro's in there for some side light or however you want, it will help a lot.......... In general, this from a guy born and raised in Humboldt...... I sprout or clone under fluoros for 3 weeks, then got to 12 watts of halide for 2 to 4 weeks, then finish with 1200 to 1800 watts of HPS...... Just scale it down for your room and you will get the best quality you can out of your indoor grow.... And don't get me wrong, you can do ok with just vedging under fluoro, but you need a lot of it and no matter what it will never be as good as halide.... but we all gotta crawl before we walk and it seems to me you are on the right track....... As I am sure you have read and learned already, this forum here is a wealth of knowledge

Haha thanks man appreciate it. I went out and bought 2 inline duct fans. Made 2 6" inch holes, one for intake and one for exhaust. Place the fans in the ducts and it lowered the temps considerably. Also i added 3 more Power Skunk plants on top of the AK's.

I took the advice of running my lights at night (6pm - 12pm // 18.6 lighting schedule) and it helped alot. I wont be able to use a MH for vegging some im just gonna stick to the floros. I plan on going to the store again this weekend and picking up 2 more 4ft Floros adding to a total of 20000 lumens. I think this is pretty good considering the space is fairly small.

Also, how often should i be watering the plants? They haven't popped their heads above ground yet and i haven't watered them since i initially put them in the pots (So its been 2 full days since).

Any other tips?

Appreciate the help guys

Keep moist but do not overwater..... Let your pots/containers get dry and feel them and then water untill the water is coming out the holes in the bottom and then feel again.... After that you will be able to tell if they need water just by feeling your pots..... When I germ, I leave them in the paper towel untill the seed is fully popped and about 2 - 4 inches long and I plant with first 2 round leaves above ground.... Have had bad luck when planting under soil and not fully popped.... water rotts them fast... Been doing the paper towel germ for about 20 years and it always works... I have left them in a paper towel before and spaced out and when I cam back they have had as many as their first two sets of reg leaves..... Anyway, hope it helps and good stuff with your lights and intake and exhaust.... The more fresh air you can get in and stail hot air out, the more you are similating their natural environment and the love that c02 in the fresh air

Thanks man. I have a moisture meter just in case i wouldn't be able to check the moisture of the soil. I germed them and used the same paper towel methods. The tappa root was about an inch long on all them (some shorter some longer) and i placed half an inch down.

I'm supposed to keep lights off till i see them pop above ground correct? Also i am using regular tap water... are there any issues with that?

Thanks for the info on the fans and what not. Big help man!! Keep the advice coming. The moisture meter i am using is like this 3 in 1 thing. It's pH and moisture and light. Although i dont think the pH is really working correctly. Every time i stick it in the soil it reads around 8 and i pull it out and it reads 8. So =(

So for people tuning in:

Day 2:
Planted 3 more Power Skunk plants in my Fox Farm Ocean Forest
Watered them a little till moisture meter read moist then stopped.
Rest of the AK's received no water.
Lights are off 24/7 until i see signs of life (Haha)

Tap Water is being used as of right now

Stay tuned guys!

ok kid, first off, curb that meter, it's worthless and many before you have made the same mistake.... Get good at feeling it wet and dry..... As far as the tap water, well that depends on where you live... My tap water is 450, so I use RO water... It's the best and most controlable... If you are going to use tap though, let it sit out opened for a couple days, then shake it up to re ox it and water away..... As far as the seeds, sun shines all day long, you think about that
