im going to probably do a full rez change tonight. I've read that the rez may be full of all the un-needed N and every time i add more nutes im making it worse :(
long story, but i fucked up and let the rez temps get to 72f for about 2 days and thats when the PH got silly and they got a few spots on some fan leaves.

this grow has made me seriously consider the switch to dry nutes i can mix myself, that or i will just make the jump over to the lucas formula. you have great success with lucas formula, right douglas?

When your mix is wrong, switching with a full res change is definitely a good measure to take. You get a clearer picture of how close the new mix is, without the old interfering in any way.
Yep, above 69F and the pH drop is from root rot.

Super simple, super results. Should you switch, be sure to pick up some quality magnesium sulfate. Only 'necessary' additive I've found. The amount varies by strain, I don't use more than what I mix the first rez up with though. Usually plenty for the rest of flower.

My roots seem pretty healthy all the way around, but I had some dead roots from males that got tangled up with females. I think they just finally succumbed. Added some h2o2 and all seems alright with the world

So I actually ran out of calmag towards the end of veg, and I'm think what I've been dealing with is not a N tox or nute burn. But rather a calcium deficiency, judging by the slow development and spotting rather than edge burn. And also an upward curl at edges

You'll do yourself a favor by looking up the nutrient calculator for your nutes. Find a formulation which matches the Mel Frank recommended ppms (Lucas Formula). Like I said before, the closer you get to optimal for the plant, the more you'll be able to feed it without issues. You're probably right about the calcium deficiency.

Hey hey, they're still alive! Got my nutes pretty close to Mel Frank's numbers, I have the actual numbers from my soup on my pc. I'm just wondering when I'll actually see some bud swelling happen. What do you think Douglas? Any yield estimates? The curiosity is killing me!! Sunday marks 8 weeks since 12/12, I've been dropping the light time by 15 minutes the last 4 weeks to a 11/13 schedule. Plants are 42"tall at top

Gratz on getting your soup ingredients listed. :) Your next run will be a smash!
No way to estimate yield, sorry. Without bud swell by week 8, I'd say you got the mix right a bit late.

The good thing is this is great xp for you. Should be leveling up soon. lol :)

not likely. Swelling usually occurs between week 3 and week 6-7, depending on the strain. 8 weeks on most strains is where they're packing on oils, not plant growth. Sorry

That is so depressing it's not even funny. I was holding on to the thought that they would swell in the last few weeks of bloom, that's what a lot of reading material had led me to believe.

Hey, at least you have a harvest coming up :)
You get stretch at flip, the first 2-3 weeks. Bud swell is from there till a few weeks before harvest. The last few weeks are just oil production.

Overfeeding, wrong nutrient profile, wrong environment, all these things will reduce yield. Still great for a first grow, love it and move on. :)
