yep. and if you have a small fan blowing across the tops of the bottles, that will speed it up even more.I made my first tincture using alcohol but used too much. Can I leave my bottles open for a while to let the alcohol evaporate?
Yep. You can also put the bottle with lid off, in some warm water which will increase the evap rate.I made my first tincture using alcohol but used too much. Can I leave my bottles open for a while to let the alcohol evaporate?
Different solvents pull different compounds. Alcohol pulls a lot of chlorophyll which is what you're seeing. For some, chlorophyll can be good and others are sensitive to it.Thank you.
Also, my leftover flower is bright green as is my tincture. I followed the instructions for decarboxylation with some adjustments.. 235 degrees for 45 - 50 min.
99.9% ISO and sometimes 190 proof Everclear (Everclear is very hard to find in my area since the pandemic, and same with ISO. I had to buy a case of four 1 gallon jugs from an industrial chemical company for ISO, because everyone is completely sold out).Looking to get into making tincture myself, what alcohol do you use
You don’t want to use ISO for a tincture. Tincture is usually for oral consumption.99.9% ISO and sometimes 190 proof Everclear (Everclear is very hard to find in my area since the pandemic, and same with ISO. You're absolutely right. Brain fart moment. For some reason my mind wandered from tincture to extraction. You don’t want to use ISO for a tincture. Tincture is usually for oral consumption.
ISO works great for making extracts that get fully evaporated, but you should not ingest it in a tincture.
For tincture you want to use ethanol (like everclear) or you can also make glycerin tinctures which don’t have any alcohol.
If you can get really high proof vodka that can also work. Like 150 proof plus I believe is ideal for efficiency of extraction and so that it can be easily evaped to reduce volume. In the UK don't think everclear is readily available
Is Absinthe legal where you are? My buddy used to bring me back a bottle of that stuff every year from his trip home to Italy. It works well too.I'll try to source some high proof alcohol.
the source turbo looks like an awesome unit. I've wanted to get one. But the main thing it would let you do is reclaim the alcohol the evaps off.Yes it's legal here, would you know if the Levo2 or the source turbo from extractcraft will do the job, or am I over thinking it
ISO is not safe for consumption. That was my mistake which was pointed out earlier. ISO is good for extraction, but you need to evaporate it all the way. For tinctures, food grade alcohol is required.Yes I am starting with trim material, but at least if I reclaim the alcohol and use isopropyl would it be safe for consuming?
