I put an order in for some more leafy green seeds:

Dandelion, Wild (Taraxacum officinale), packet of 200 seeds, organic
Quantity: 1
Cost: $1.95

Lambs Quarters (Chenopodium album), packet of 300 seeds, organic
Quantity: 1
Cost: $1.95

Mizuna (Brassica rapa nipposinica), packet of 300 seeds, organic
Quantity: 1
Cost: $1.95

Mache (Valerianella locusta), packet of 100 seeds, organic
Quantity: 1
Cost: $1.95

Lettuce, Fine Cut Oak Leaf (Lactuca sativa), packet of 200 seeds, organic
Quantity: 1
Cost: $1.95

I can only fit 4 square pots in the chambers at a time so now comes the tough choice of which 3 of these do I want to test out first? Decisions, decisions. Any suggestions or anyone want to see any of these in particular tested out?

are these the new ones?
@robincnn

The SunPlus is the new line of chips from lumileds (Philips) for horticulture. Alongside all of their mono chips there are three interesting new ones, (PURPLE!).

They use a coating over a coloured led to turn the light purple (that's my scientific explanation).

There are three kinds, one for veg, one for flower and one general purpose. The difference between them is the % of light that is blue. Up until now they were just chips, but strips? Now we're talking. I wonder how good/expensive they are, and how they compare to bars made with single colour LEDs.

Interesting the strips can take 2.7A (tested st 900ma). Around 30w 2 1.7-2.2 umol/j if I read that right.

How much how much how much

Do you think the 3m is thermal tape?
Same tape as XF-3535L, which has been out since 1-2 yrs. Not sure if it is thermal 3m
Blue diode with Red(or similar) phosphorus i guess.
Their setup cost is high. We have to wait for these to show up in market.
Not as cheep as white strips. I think these will be $30+
@Stephenj37826 and I can design a strip around this too. only issue is these purple diodes are 3 times more expensive than white once.

are these the new ones?
Yes. This is the 12.5% i am sending you

Can you do a full lime board?

A little lettuce update:
The 17W Ceiling lights are doing much better than expected. So much so that I will isolate it from other lighting in my veg room to compare again with climate conditions being equal rather than in a separate growing space

IMG_1144.jpg IMG_1145.jpg

That said, I know it is not popular in the led section but µmole/j efficiency data is just a general guide and not the be all end all.
These are from the same start batch of lettuce and they are waaaay out on the side (like the 5ft mark) of a 600W Horilux Blue in a Hydrofarm Radiant Reflector (not a good spreader) and the biomass is much more significant receiving way under 20W a sq ft.
Just some food for thought

May have to do with the container, lettuce likes to spread its roots horizontally. (besides the taproot)

I was asking because I'm working with someone that needs to cover (80) 71'x58" grow beds. We have been looking at Samsung white strips, bridgelux strips and the SunPlus chips. So if SunPlus had strips that's nice, but you're saying they aren't as efficient as white that surprises me because being they are purple we thought that would save energy overall.

I was thinking Samsung strips alongside strips of mixed SunPlus? Those links to alibaba should be able to manufacture the strips with our choice of SunPlus diodes right? .
Surely someone can figure out what ratio of white (Samsung) to blue/red/green/purple? Is it possible to buy 4ft pre-made PCBs that I can attach my choice of SunPlus chips to?

Hellllllppppp us PCB gurus D=

I was thinking just straight up Samsung strips.
