I am growing out Querkle (10 beans) and Chernobyl (5 beans). I was using Phillips natural sunshine flouresent bulbs (40 watts, 2200 lumens , 5000k color temp.) The first few days were fine and one morning i went in the room and 11 out of 15 of the seedlings were starting to yellow. I have seen that it is very hard to bleach or burn plants with floros but i think i have..... I have been watering with RO water and my temps are around 72 f - 75 f. I have replaced the floros with phillips 40 watt T12's for the mean time (they are not half as bright as the others). four of the fifteen seem healthy and happy (four chernobyl one querkle)and there are a few with only a couple yellow blotches, cannot figure out whats up with the rest..... any advice would be greatly appreciated....

How often and how much do you water? Overwatering can cause nitrogen deficiency symptoms. Overwatering will cause nitrogen to not being absorbed due to soggy soil.

@ Diablo.dash using Pro mix BX. Haven't added nutes yet....

@ Brick Top I think i may have over saturated the soil when i planted, but i have been very adament about letting them dry out now between waterings.

OKay so i should keep using the weaker lights, keep watering only when needed (soil dryed out). should i add a weak dose of nutes for the N def or will that correct itself with proper watering...

2000 lumens IS NOT enough. if your using fluors use a cool white and a warm white. or t5's if you have the $.
i dont think lights the issue i'm just adding that cuz thats something you should look into.
I think BRICK TOP has it. too much water, and make sure they have proper drainage.
**i've used beer pong cups before, you wanna poke the holes from the inside out. when i transplanted the ones in my beer pong cups, i found lil chunks of red plastic in with my soil. dont think it's a problem but something to think about.

thanx for the input everyone

I think i tend to agree with the points about overwatering...when i planted i saturated the soil (running out of holes in bottom of cups, punched from inside) and had pretty much kept it that way until problems started to arise. since problems with yellowing started have only watered when dry and only moistened the top of the soil. (every 2-3 days) some have a little green in the new growth but most are still yellow.

@ AutonomousCannabis - I am just using the fluors to get them started. I was palnning on putting them under a couple of 400w MH to veg them when they are a little bigger. I am tapped out $ should i just use the MH now, or too much (lumen) for them ? bulbs are initial 36 000 lumen.
