All LED Indoor Grow- Quantum Boards vs AutoCob's

damn!! now those are an example of the trees I don't want to grow!! Nice but not for me. Plus, like I mentioned, I am partly on a time crunch here against the clock with my friend.

I was already thinking last night and when typing it tonight I never mentioned ethanol, and for a sublingual, it would be the tits!! The best for a distillation, my uncle told me about that 35 years ago, he built a homemade still from a pressure cooker. Not sure if you know what a soxhlet is but it's like a still but except the distillate comes back down into the collector, the material is in a chamber above the collector, the solvent chamber never boils dry, it is recycled and distills over and over forever if left to it's own devices.

There's an old weird hippie in Az on youtube that has a video and it decarboxylates as it extracts, rather than a 2 step extract and then decarb. He has to evap the acetone but if ethanol was the solvent, then no evap needed, not sure about vaping that though. Better for an ointment or sublingual or ingestion.

I got some minor nerve damage right hand, has totally ruined my typing career, so I know exactly what you mean there. I would do anything to get it back and it's trivial.

I had asked about the sips because the footprint is similar to my aerobuckets. And I am just getting used to this indoor stuff with space constraints and such. Plus I haven't worked with any of these strains yet so I have zero experience with judging when I should stop vegging and flip or suffer the results much as your sativas pictured above. If I weren't in such a hurry to get a large quantity in a hurry to make some kind of extract or oil, I would just take my time and play with it and learn it as I go. I will try at least 5, I think technically I could fit several more in there, but moving shit around would become increasingly difficult. Can you give me a ballpark guesstimate on height before flipping? I think I have all indica or indica dominant, of course.

Sorry man, I feel like I am dragging you offtopic, maybe I should take this private??

I looked like a crack head walking around my buddies house touching stuff like it was my first time LOL was an interesting evening to say the least..........
fuckin crackhead!! I can totally picture that and it's kinda funny lookin in my head!! But for the nerve damage part.

forgot to mention, if you have that extract info handy then that's awesome, if not don't go our of your way, I don't mind at all doing my own searches and research. I am disabled and I am a professional student.

Damn nice how long exactly do you guys veg or what exactly is going on in your guys tents that the get so tall!? I'm doing something wrong here! Lovely looking gals you got! :o:weed:
goddamn brother!! you have a straight on shot to show width of one plant?? " 'UGE!! " so sayeth the trump.

I can't wait until you crank back up on high, you're a fuckin badass!!
It was hard to get a straight on shot due to the shape of the space and the lights in the way. The trellis panel is 6' tall from the top of the bucket by 4' wide, with 4" squares, should help with scale. One plant to a panel and it would usually fill the space.

From fresh cut clone to flip usually took about 3 months. Not a tent in my case. Among other goals, I was working to see how much yield I could get from a minimum of floor space.

The girl in the pic at bottom was two steps up a stepladder and still had to stretch to reach the top of the plants.

yes sir for starters anyway. I was leading on that sip question. I use 5 gal aerobuckets, similar enough to a sip like yours that I was gonna ask for advice/opinions on plant size in one. I can and have used one bucket with 3 3" net pots for a SOG effect but I think a single plant per bucket vegged out more would be better. I only have one harvest with this setup so far and it was a single that I started from seed and vegged out for quite a while, no notes so I can;t say exactly how long but it was over 12" when I flipped.

in my 5x5 under the 1K I mentioned, how many and at what size would you recommend a starting point for me to flip? I would really like to do more than just 2 at a time if possible but not sure if 4 is too many if I let em get to big before flipping. I don't wanna grow trees but as I said I want to max what I have.

Looking forward to that pm

I think @SoOLED meant her profile pic, just a guess, what a beauty!! but maybe it was pics of old plants, they were gorgeous as well.
I'm gonna save you a bunch of time and headache right now.... No matter which method you choose for your roots - in a 5x5 with a 1K HPS drop 9 plants in there. That makes a perfect square and makes it much easier to fill the space. Veg to approx 18" and flip.
Then work from there on the harvests following to perfect your topping/training/canopy building techniques to attain the perfection you are after.
I can fill that space with 4 bigger plants but it takes much longer and if 1 of your 4 plants isn't growing up to "par" you end with too many holes in your canopy

An whatever you do don't grow your plants up a wall unless you like janky quality nugs that didn't received any light from the back side...

There's nothing janky about Sedan's nugs. Have you grown anything like his yet?

For the op, how close did you run your QB and COB lights?

Did dimming the LEDs make it possible to keep the emitters closer?

Thanks in advance!

I guess you only go for yield and not quality, that looks like below bottom shelf quality. Look how unhappy those plants are.

Looks janky to me and really bottom shelf, that's definitely not how you'd like to support a properly grown plant, i mean it's only getting light on one side of it ....

ok, sounds like a plan. thanks. I'm not gonna get involved in that janky argument. y'all forgive me if I bow out of that one. But I do not plan on growing up a wall sideways, too much work for me, and no space to do it

I have been flipping between 12" and 18", so that sets me at ease on that. I want to try and get away with not scrogging or much training if possible. My plant count is low right now, I am working on finding keepers and cloning to get to a comfortable level. I can clone easily and as soon as I get a couple more sexed I can get that plant count higher than I can handle quickly. I don't have any experience training in any way and have health issues where I wanna try and keep the workload low.

edit: I forgot to mention I referred to RO oil a bunch of times earlier and tho I'm sure y'all knew what I meant, I have never heard of RO oil, my brain kicked into autopilot trying to type RS oil.

i know you were asking evil about his cobs,,
but interesting you metioned dimming and moving them closer,, this is my first grow with a 4 cob panel that actually has a dimmer , and with the summer temps there were a couple of weeks where i had no choic really but to dim the panel for temps in the grow space,, and it worked,, but i was bummed that the light was dimmer hahaha,,, but being the stoner i am, i lowered the panel much closer than i ever have with cobs,, and the plant loves it,, the nugs are looking really good,, now i need to get a dimmer driver for my other cobs and experament some more on my bigger winter grow

That's exactly what I needed to know.

Less COB = higher intensity, higher distance.

More COB = lower intensity, lower distance

To achieve the same PPFD of course.

I've been looking at LED seriously the past few months and I think having several COBs running at lower wattage and higher efficiency will spread the coverage better and produce the same at lower running costs with an initial higher starting cost that could easily pay for itself in the first two years of operation.

Thanks!

i used to be against driving them softer,,, i always felt,, MORE POWER!!! hahaha,, i was looking to find a way to drive them harder and who cared if it shorted its life span,, ( of the cob that is),, but now,, after seeing whats happing in my grow box,, i cant wait to get my 4 cree 3070's at 3000K in there with thse citi 1812's at 4000k, and drive them all much lower,,
its what Tim Allen would to on home improvment,, rah rah rah i am sure

Lulz- vertical sucks cuz janky nugs that didn't get light on the back, huh?

Maybe you should actually try it before you go talking shit about the technique, eh?
