ALL MALES......what the hell???

just wondering if anyone knows if getting all males is just bad luck or did I do something wrong? Is sex pre-determined before germination or is it caused by environmental conditions?
- I planted 8 seeds, all of which germinated within 12 to 24 hours
- used promix bx
- temps 20c to 24c
- cfl to veg (3 weeks) then switched to 400w hps for flowering
- ph was a bit high in the begining but was corrected
- all 8 turned out male
if anyone has any input i would appreciate it, i am starting all over and certainly dont want to waste another month

hey man! as u can see by my post count i am no expert, actually just waiting for people to help me with something, but im pretty sure sex is determined all ready i read recently sumwhere that stress can cause hermis but i dont even know for 100% if thats correct, but im guessing u were just extremely unlucky but thats just a guess, why dont you try order some fem seeds to be extra sure nxt time, they bit more expensive but at least u have some guarntee, its not always 100% that u get all females but i bought a pack of 5 fem isis seed from dutch passion an 4 were female i killed one from being a noob (was my first grow) so cant be sure if that was fem too or not but 4/5 aint bad!

You just had some bad luck my man

with reg seeds you got a 50/50 chance on them being male or female

out of 8 seeds you should have gotten at least 1 female ( damn )

bad , bad , luck

how long after planting did they all go male? Did you stress them? replant them? I have read... not sure how reliable... and (tested it myself) I have frozen seeds (quickest method?) BHO them for a sec ... I again dont know if this is 100% but... I have had VERY few males (growing mids orange crush) again... not 100% set yet on this... but the logic is there in a round about way...

I don't think it's anything but luck to be honest. I had a friend germ 12 seeds and ALL of them were females! I wouldn't say anything about stress, lack of lights, or heat, because his grow room is in the upper 90s. He uses only a few cfl lamps, and he even dropped a few and broke them. They still all became females even with all the stress and everything. So, I think it's all dumb luck.

Better luck next time dude. Luckily you didn't pay for the seeds, right?

Yeah, i'll put another vote in for 'crap luck'. I've read about a stuff about growers experimenting with ways to influence sex, with regular seeds, but none of the methods showed any real advantages/disadvantages. So far, from what I've seen, the genetics are there from the beginning, whether a seed is going to be male or female, and it's near impossible to change that. Try again, my friend, the odds are in your favor, now....lol
