...All Things Vero...

Would you consider buying a VERO after reading through some of the posts?

Care to share any more information about your operation?
Sure. Initially I didn't think I could get Bridgelux over here so I ordered some CXA3070s but after the company bailed on my order I started placing calls here and there and finally came across this:

2 x Vero 18 BXRC-40E4000-F-24
2 x Meanwell LPC-60-1400
2 x Arctic Alpine 11 Plus

The cab is 4 feet long by 2 feet wide, but I'm just trying to cover half of it. I purposely built the cab for future proofing and airflow. I have two indicas in there that are trained to an even canopy. I can probably get a small HPS light in there and I can also get my hands on (just one) Vero 29 5000K CRI 70. This is before I can get a few bucks together and just straight up order 12 pieces of Vero 29 :D so my question is will I get some good buds outta two Vero 18s at 1400mA?

One more question: any of you guys have experience using non-conductive thermal silicone adhesive on the outside plastic bits and Arctic Silver on the middle metal bit? I'm just trying to save myself the hassle of drilling and tapping the radiators

Hold on, let me rub my crystal ball four times...lol.

For my last gro around, while using Vero 18 4000K and some Blckstar LED, I averaged around .7 grams per watt. If I had been using all Vero, I would have finished closer to 1 gram per watt.

0.7 a watt sounds alright for my goals. How hard were you driving them? and how many? Also any ideas on the silicone adhestive thing?

Each of the Vero 18's were driven at 1050mA, roughly ~30 watts a pop and there was two. The Blackstar was pulling around 130W from the wall but couldn't be anymore than 30% efficient - it was blasting some serious heat! All for one plant too.

I've always used either zip-ties or screws to hold down my COBS. Lol, looking back, I can't believe I went with zip-ties with the Crowns...

Far out, man. thanks for the replies. I def need more light in there.

The two Vero 18's that you have will be just fine for your two plants throughout the vegetation period but you will want to introduce more light come flowering.

Feel free to share photos of your DIY work here or in your own thread! Most of us, experienced or new, get a kick out of what others build and grow!

Alright. I see. The two are ready to go into flowering as soon as possible. I was gonna ask about the 4000K spectrum for flowering but I see you guys do a pretty good job with that. I guess I'm gonna have to add in some supplemental lighting or kill one of the plants. NOT GONNA HAPPEN lol

I'd love to post some pics of the light rail I made but it never came to fruition since all I could get my hands on was a pair COBs.

Hello weederz!
I always looking for a driver for 4 Vero10 @ 250mA, so a 30w (26w:4x6, 5w) 104V (4x25, 9) am i wrong? Or a 500mA and I will make two strings? I found some but not enough efficient, under 90%.So if you know a 90% or more who will drive V10 please let me know
Have a great day★

Phillips drivers or more expensive options for >90% efficiency....
bit of overkill @150w...but relatively good buy on 350mA driver

Yes you will need 100+ volts to run 4x in a series but finding a 250mA 100v+ driver, will be harder to find....without dimming....I couldn't find one :peace:

...the 250 way...

VERO 10 V2 3k @ 250 mA --- Vf @ 50ºC = 25,57 V ----- Watts Dissipated = Vf * If = 25,57 * 0,250 = 6,39 w ----

-----PAR W = W Disspated * Efficiency = 6,39 * 0,3924 (Efficiency @ 250 mA @ 50ºC) = 2,5074 PAR W

--- 2,51 PAR W * 4 (4 cobs) = 10,04 PAR W

So your total is 10,04 PAR W emitted.

You could apply -10 % for lenses / reflector / scatter losses so ---- 10,04 – 1,004 = 9,36 PAR W.

Vf Total = 25,57 * 4 = 102,28 v (4 cobs in series @ 250mA @ 50ºC)

....and the 500 way...

VERO 10 V2 3k @ 500 mA --- Vf @ 50ºC = 27,08 V ----- Watts Dissipated = Vf * If = 27,08 * 0,500 = 13,54 w ----

-----PAR W = W Disspated * Efficiency = 13,54 * 0,3441 (Efficiency @ 500 mA @ 50ºC) = 4,6591 PAR W

--- 4,66 PAR W * 4 (4 cobs) = 18,64 PAR W

So your total is 18,64 PAR W emitted.

You could apply -10 % for lenses / reflector / scatter losses so ---- 18,64 – 1,864 = 16,77 PAR W.

Vf Total = 27,08 * 4 = 108,32 v (4 cobs in series@ 500mA @ 50ºC)

...perhaps im fail in my maths... im bad on maths... its only my pov...or my opinion...

...pd... datas from spreadsheets of SupraSPL... ...Thanks again Supra...

A good rule of thumb is to use 12 W / sqft PAR for 2 - 3 foot plants, 14 – 18 W / sqft PAR for taller.

Hello everybody,

I would like to install a dimming option on my panel, i have got two HLG-B drivers, so i will install a potentiometer (100K ohm) on each one, i want to dim them separatly. I found some portentiometer but i'm not sure about the details:

100 k ohm.PNG
Do i need to choose the "Mono 0.2 W" or the "Mono 0.1 W" ? Is it enough for our use ?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey AP!
Nice video and nicely done job!
I wish I had your courage in your age to do so. Perhaps the launch of a new empire, lol! But I was a little scared when you have removed the pizo molex connector. For me three piece are broken as I try to remove them, just splintered away. Maybe wrong technique but they could be a bit more thick and stable because they sit pretty tight!

What wire gauge did you choose for your molex connectors? There should be x3 options, with each option/gauge being offered in various lengths.

Hello growerz!
Sorry but what do you mean?
It is for a 3.5x3.5x2.66 feet (105*105*80cm) vegg box, i plan on 15 Vero10 @250mA on a hlg-185-500b (and 15 more later on an another string)
I think I'm going to have 15x4000k on one driver and 30 5000k on the other to aloud me to use the 4000k @500mA in the flowering box to have more blue during the first weeks (put the 15 Vero10 @500mA in the middle of cxb 3590 @700mA than remove V10 and run the 3590@1400mA.
Have a great day★

Okay!
Thanks for the note!
Maybe I was too fast at the ordering process! Don't know which one I have, but it seems to be the smallest. Must look at the part number on my bill. Thought there was only one for all Vero's but only with different length. Is the small part with the connector also thicker? Just there he's got broken / torn off.
Thanks! For the future, I know it now!

Hoho, wait a minute...
You just said that there are 3 size of wire for the molex!??
I'm about to buy 15 of them for my Vero10. Which one should i buy?
Thanks for the information!
Have a great day★
