They are all 87-89% efficient when they are in the optimal part of the Vf range, the upper 70-95% of the range tends to have the best efficiency. They will put out less than 300mA though (~285). The mA output drops as the Vf rises.

So either of the drivers i linked will work then? My design is constantly changing.

The prices and selection at Steve's are great for us DIYers but the shipping charges are piss-poor.

Can you tell? I've been spoiled by the free shipping on items that can be found on ebay and newegg.

Not sure if these guys ship to EU but this is where i have been getting them. They are one of the best deep reds available but if you can get the Oslon SSL Hyper red 3T-4T bin you would be even better off. The very best deep red currently is the Cree Photo red P3 bin.
I can't find Oslon bin 3T-4T easily. I found the LMX3-PD01 on stars last night and a reasonable price but lost the link :( Are the Cree's really that much better? Have found them online but they seem pretty much the same as the LMX3?

But as you can see, no matter which way we cut it, paying $5/PAR W to get 40% efficiency is not too great when we can get 53.5% efficiency for the same price using CXA3070 ABs. Or even better, pay $3.40/PAR W and get 50.5% from the CXAs.

Supra I think your a little hard on Lux. From my quick read of the data sheets ssl803t, Cree and Lux all spec 2.1Vf @ 350mA typical. In saying that I can get the SSl80s for €1,52 without stars and I think there is an advantage with the optics. I may have to ask nicely at work to get some assistance in mounting them on stars. Oslon 4Ts seem like rockinghorse shit :)

You are right, I ran those numbers a long time ago and they updated the datasheeet last May. Now it says 2.19Vf at 350mA. Will update the sheet and see how it turns out. I will also take some measurements and see how they compare in use.

I agree that the SSL80s have an advantage over the rest and the 4T would be a great choice.

Yes, Steve does ship to Europe. I've purchased some LEDs from them some time ago.
If you want Cree photo red, you can get them at Cutter - http://cutter.com.au/proddetail.php?prod=cut1866 . They ship to Europe, too.

While I was searching through Cutter offerings, I found this - http://cutter.com.au/proddetail.php?prod=cut2204 . I wasn't able to find any other info anywhere? Cree about to release far red XP-E? Could be, Cutter has always has latest Cree LEDs before anyone else...

I've never seen 4T bin for sale. Everything is 3T.

I see everybody uses 3000k, but I see a lot of stretch. Compared with hps, is the stretch more or less?

Im sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, didn't know where else.
