allergic reaction during fan leaf trimming?

Trimming my fan leaves today, I ended up stabbing my ring finger after many cuts with the sharp point of my pruners. Sucked the blood out as soon as I did it. Washed with soap and water, then hydrogen peroxide. about 45 minutes later, my ring finger (top 2 sections only) is swelling, not crazy, but noticeably. I will seek medical attention if it gets worse, but anyone else hear of or have this happen? I do a lot of general gardening and this happens often enough with no noticeable swelling from other plants. - Now I sound like my Klutzy sister! ugh.. safety first! THX!

No clue, but theres some nasty infections out there... I once pet a shop cat in a corner store and it turned around after a few min and barely nibbled on my thumb/top of hand.. no blood or scratch or anything at all. Next day I woke up to a swollen thumb, I stupidly waited another day for it to get better and woke up in excruciating pain and ended up walking to the hospital at 3am because my thumb felt like it was going to pop, Doc didnt even know what to do, I ended up just telling him slice open my thumb, to relieve the pressure on my finger, couldnt imagine something so small hurting so much (especially with broken legs elbow arms etc in the past).... They ended up IV'ing antibiotics because the pills wouldnt act quick enough (me, being stupid and not going to the hospital that first day) and they were afraid the infection would continue to spread to my arm/heart etc. (was already moving to my index finger at that point)

But yeah, crazy stuff from the tiniest little scratch. granted it was a cats mouth and nasty bacteria can run in there..... Especially a corner store shop cat whose sole purpose is probably to handle the rodents there... But still... something tiny like that can blow up without noticing.

Didnt have my truck at the time which is my excuse for not going that first day... But definitely learned my lesson on that one. Take care of those small reactions because they possibly could be infections... which can be pretty bad if your the type to brush medical issues off unless you cant walk or something. I had a friend pass from sepsis and had no idea what was going on for the days leading up to his death and just didnt call 911 or go to the hospital..

Sorry I dont know how I even brought this shit up or why... something with your small poke/reaction.

Cheers :peace:
