Alternating mh & hps semiweekly during flowering

6 weeks of veg should be plenty of time. I'm really interested to see how this is gonna go. I don't think its gonna be to much stress for the plants. Are you gonna alternate the lights weekly, bi-weekly, daily?

I don't know really, maybe hps mon-thu and mh fri-sun. Or one week hps, one week mh, and so on. What would you do? I'm all eyes! :)

I'm planning to run a system that runs both hps and mh, what I'm gonna do is start my 12/12 cycle with 8 hours of mh then 4 hours in the hps will come on for 8 hours. Both the lights will be on for 4 hours in the middle of the cycle to recreate mid day sun. I'm doing this because I feel that a mh is like the morning sun and the hps is like the evening sun. Supposedly mh buds are more potent too so hopfully I get the best of both worlds.

i use a dual-spectrum light and thought of doing the MH in the morning and adding HPS - but i decided to just run both MH and HPS all the time!

Ohh, I like the morning/evening idea... however switching bulbs daily is too much work for me lol. Hey email, do you think switching between mh and hps biweekly or so would stress the plants in some way? More opinions please :)

i don't know about stress but i don't see they would benefit either. but i'm no expert and if you are willing to experiment...

i have a dual-ballast so do not have to change bulbs - just plug into different timers. very sweet.

i really want to try this. i'm about 40 days into flowering a snow white plant. should i alternate lights for the last 3-4 weeks or do you think i'm to far along?

Hehe, I might be totally wrong here but my idea was to give them some hps to gain some of the supposedly extra yield, and some mh to gain that extra potency. To get somewhere in between there.

I know I would try, but don't blame me if your plants fuck up by doing this :mrgreen:

I just finished a soil grow playing with this method.I switched the lights each day going 4 hours hps then 4 hours mh then 4 hour hps for the 12/12 cycle.Plants stayed shorter and leafier but I dont think it really helped the overall yield of the plant

thanks for making the experiment and posting results!

Ok, FilthyFletch's report put me down a little but I am determined to involve the MH while budding, I just don't know how much yet. They are still under MH but this weekend I'm switching to HPS 400w.

With lack of real-life people to show off my plants to (and get opinions from) I post some pictures of the project. 11 days into flowering. The ones to the right are placed on boxes for now so they get as much light as the other ones; one of the C99 must be a sativa phenotype (or what you call it hehehe), because since I put them under 12/12 it has grown almost 10 inches while the other ones stay short and bushy.

The closest plant is NYC Diesel. All plants are females.
