Alternating Nodes?

I have a couple females with a good amount of pre-flowers but they dont have alternating nodes yet. Does this mean they wont start flowering until they have alternating nodes? Basically what Im asking is do they need to have alternating nodes before they flower? Its an outdoor grow btw.

Alternating nodes is a sign of a mature plant. They don't HAVE to have them, but if they do then you could flower quickly.. but they often have natural preflowers by then anyway, even in veg. If you have pistils and preflowers you can flower now. In reality you can flower long before then and force the plant to catch up. Check out the 12/12 from seed thread!

From what I know it just needs to have pre flowers. I think that means its hormones are ready to flower. Maybe when the photoperiod gets shorter asymmetric branching

A marijuana plant wont flower until It has alternating nodes .Not true flower anyways.Ive seen plants look female until alternating nodes and then they hermaphrodite.you can run 12/12 cycle but a plant will not show its true sexual identity until it begins alternating node growth. It will seem to do it b4 alternate growth but you will only think so because the growth is so small it cant be seen by the human eye.Its a fact of nature it cannot be changed unless something unnatural changes it.

There is a growing technic where you take a clone as soon as it shows roots. You plant it and throw it under 12/12 light. This will produce one main cola that a lot of times, will almost touch the soil. It is called lollypopping. I have tried it. I got much better success from the crop I grew right next to the lollypops. The crop that did better was topped and had 10 days of 20/4 lights on, then flipped to 12/12. I ended up with about 3 times the product. I did this technic for about a year. The toped plant with 10 days of veg was pretty easy to manicure. But you need more plants to get the same weight as a full sized plant. Which does not work where I am now. I can only have a max of 15 plants.

I did notice, that some strains do not do well under this techinic though. They would take 3-4 weeksa to start flowering. But a good nunmber of the strains would start showing sex and such in about 2 weeks. All three technics have their pros and cons. Full sized plants reduce the number of plants needed. 10 weeks of veg produces more bud per amount of foliage. No Veg time, means more plants but manicureing is a breeze.
