alternatives to hydroton for DWC?

I agree about the root crushing, I'm leaving heavily towards the sure to grow pellets, they're kind of expensive, but I don't really care at this point. Can't get more inert than foam I guess... plus no crushing risk

Well shoot, I only got 871 grams off her.

129 grams short of my goal.

Think I need to grow to 4 ft before Flower.

From seed, Uruzgan, Afghanistan Origin.

100% Indica

Wow you really are the weed master.

So please, master of weed, tell me what your favourite hydrotron alternative is, as this was the point of the thread. "hydrotron is the best" is not an accepted answer.

Thanks!

when ppl weight, its normaly after dry and trim. if anyone cared how much wet weight they got, everyone would be getting 3-4 gpw.

I smell a rotten fish. Dry weight dude. Nobody buys wet weed especially with those big ass stalks. That 1.92# just went to maybe 8oz dry and trimmed properly.

Wow, no shit, this guys off his rocker if he thinks thats anywhere near 2 lbs dry, and after reading the thread he kinda seems like a cry baby that is not very good at growing. What the hell is that set up doing to optimize anything? Plants growing at 90 degree angles?? Why? Is this some reinvent the wheel strategy? Gawd id have three times the weight under those lights in those tubs. And the trim job suuuucks for the final weight lol. Plants dont look that bad, probly pretty tasty, alls im sayin is hey, bad fish, you can do alot better with that space and dont lie to riu about your final weights. Id neg rep ya if i could for that BS. Heres four lb trimmed..... WET! P.s. the skinny little guy behind theres not me (no fish stories here) but that is my hand with king kongs dong ;)image.jpg

the sure to grow seems super expensive, I'd order it online,

big coco chips seem like a decent alternative. I don't know too much about coco I'll to do a lot more reading.

Thanks guys

have you heard of growstone? i got a sample and have yet to try it http://www.growstone.com/
p.s. theyre glass i guess, american made, and PH neutral.
looks like they use growstone mixed with coco.

got lots of this stuff love it so far

i agree is it easier to use only foam collars but this stuff is great after you wash it soak it and rewash it
they are growned up glass and lime that allowed it to form a lava like rock that breaks after its is cooked and makes a great media if u need a media

it has lots of free lime and silcia in it so pour water in teh yard not the pipes!!!!!!!!!!! please note last photo is from washing out a bag of the growstones thats a lot of mess
IT WILL JUST SIT IN THE PIPE AND CAUSE BLOCKAGE IT ISNT WASHED OUT PUT IN YARD NOT DRAIN

I use dynagro Roks II. Kinda pricey.

Dyna-Rok II Medium, 1.4 cu ft Medium-grade Dyna-Rok II is a versatile, absorbent, earth-friendly growing medium made from the fossils of ancient single-celled plants called diatoms. These fossils are a natural source of silica and growth-boosting minerals, part of which get absorbed by the plant over time. The majority of the medium doesn't decompose, however, holding as much as 150% of its total weight in water or nutrient solution. This makes medium-grade Dyna-Rok II an excellent choice as a stand-alone medium or as a soil amendment.

dyna roks look nice... I'll see what I can find local... as a medium it only has to do it's job for about two weeks max, then the stuff says mostly dry until harvest :\
