Alternatives to Hydroton??? please help

Don't have a hydro store near by, so im looking for an easily gettablr alternative solution to hydroton, I've heard of people using lava rocks and even gravel, what will work and where can I get it???info is much appreciated...

you can buy silica stone. Its an easy substitute. Just rinse first though because its dusty at first.

oh yea, most hydro shops carry it, also it works just fine.

Gravel from your driveway will work fine, after a good wash...

I've used it... but it is just sooo freaking heavy...

My suggestion would be perlite with a rockwool cube since it is accessible..You could try a hardware store, or a nursery? You might need to go with soil if you can't get what you need to set up hydro?!
