Am I doing something wrong?

I have two plants that have been growing for about 4 - 5 weeks and i feel they aren't growing like they should be. They are short, only about 5 - 6 inches tall. I have seen pictures of peoples plants that have been growing for the same amount of time and are three times the size of mine. I just added two fluorescent lights today to help with vegitation. What am I doing wrong?

What I have been doing.

They are both in one gallon pots with miracle gro organic choice soil.
I have one 150 HPS about 2 feet above them.
2 fluorescent lights a little lower than the HPS.
I water about every 3 - 4 days.
I have a one gallon jug with a yeast mixture for added co2 in with them.

Also, im not sure if they are Indica or Sativa. Any one know how to tell the diff? If they are Sativa should I just pull them and start over? I dont have the time (aka patience :p) or light to properly grow Sativa...

Sounds like your doing everything right except for the micracle gro soil. MG soil has time-released nitrogen that can be too strong for young plants and stunt their growth. Transplant asap into bigger pots and real organic soil and your p[lants will thank you for it :D

Yeah im gonna transplant this weekend into a mix of FoxFarm soil, perlite, worm castings, and sand. Also im gonna quit with the HPS for now and add more cool white/daylight fluorescent bulbs.

indicas are usually small and bushy with fat leaves. sativa's are taller with less bushy-ness and usually have long, thin leaves. hope that helps.

i agree with your light change. u should get cooler lights for now. and use MG later in the plants life. Ive been on these forums for a little while and although i have never used FoxFarm, I constantly hear that name as a game brand to use all around.

Iv just heard sand is good for drainage, also i seem to have a gnat problem, and a lot of people say to put a 1/2 inch of sand on top of the soil to kill them off. Also, I have two 30 - 40 watt fluorescent lights above them, it seems kind of dim, should I add more?
