Am i right in saying too much nitrogen in flowering focuses more on leaf development slowing down bud growth ?

Yes. Too much N also locks out a lot of the nutrients they need for flower. But yes, you're correct. Kinda the same reason you don't want to give basil flowering nutes. You don't want basil to flower, so you give it a higher N feed.

To much of any single nutrient is detrimental. Its all about balance. Its also Fake Neews to limit Nitrogen in Flowering. Again the main thing is Balance.
Its also pretty much Fake News to change nutrients from veg to flowering.
The fertilizer I use when I use chemical is 19.5-20-39
The base formula is 4-20-39
Then 15.5-0-0 Calcium Nitrate
Epsom Salts
And in weeks 3-4 of an 8 weeks flowering strain, you can add Monopotassium Phosphate. 0-52-36.
And all the while Slowly increase the base feed/Calcium Nitrate, and Epsom salts. You can also give extra Epsom Salts in weeks 5-6.
Then in weeks 7-8, cut back on all nutrients. In weeks 7 cut back 25%, and in week 8 another 25%, and flushing, is also a myth.
Also remember. All NITROGEN is, is Protein. When humans eat protein, out bodies turn it into Nitrogen. In plants, they take in straight Nitrogen, and skip the eating of the protein phase. Protein means of First Importance. Protein/Nitrogen is the most important nutrient. Cell division, hormones and many other metabolic process rely on Protein/Nitrogen.
And does it make sense to limit Nitrogen in flowering, when the plant will grow more mass than its ever grown, hormones will be produced. THC glands ect.
The main thing is all about proper balance. If you give an over abundance of Nitrogen?? For sure your plants will produce more leaf material than need be, and you can even greatly slow, or fuck up the flowering process.
But its fake news to cut back on Nitrogen during flowering. Except at the very last couple of weeks They just need the proper balance.
