So I went ahead and topped my pepper plants ..I also removed blooming flowers..

U make the cut at the base of the y formation right? Above the node ..

Here is some pics using what I cut off as an example...

So I would make the cuts where the scissors are placed.. am I doing it right ? Lol thanks for any help!16215405143371720717930607812049.jpg1621540587466311870182335910556.jpg16215406113085220694937297804191.jpg

I personally leave them alone until they start fruiting. Then work my prune around my pepper clusters. I grow bell jalapeno habanero seranno banana pep. This is not something I learned online. Just started doing on my own and I like my results

Yeah definitely the best way to learn by doing it and learning from experience. this why I went ahead and topped them.. but just want to make sure I topped at the correct point and make note of it in my journal

Awesome thanks ! We'll I just topped them right now bit ago so I'll see how they do in the next few days ..

As for pruning peppers I'll just be
Removing any bottom foliage touching the ground and removing a bit foliage from the middle/inside for air circulation and topping to maintain them ..

Thanks again , now I know I'm on the right track

Do u remove suckered from pepper plants , is it even worth doing? Maybe to maintain proper air circulation..?

I'll just be Removing the bottom foliage touching the ground . .
Also a bit from inside/center for air circulation .. and top when needed.
And remove suckered if needed

I don't remove anything until they start fruiting on there own if I have any larger leaves creating to much shade or preventing new growth. I'll cut those. But like I said earlier. Iv had my best seasons letting them be plants. Removing mostly only dead foliage and what not. Kinda like letting the plant tell me. "Hey. This part is obstructing my branch". Over care has always been my biggest enemy in the garden

Most say yes, I say no. More leaves =more sugar =more fruit. With tomat I will remove the flowers instead of the suckers but with hot peppers I just remove the extra green peppers and cook with them. I like max 3-5 peppers per branch.

I also don't prune my hot peppers, just let them do whatever, then every 3ish months or whenever they get too big, I cut them back to a couple sq. ft footprint and 2-3 feet high, so I remove more than half the plant by volume. There is always a huge burst of peppers immediately following cutting them back.
