Amber trichomes?

Hi guys, I have not been on here in a while and need some help. I’m growing a few different strains and I’m close to harvest. I just harvested my mimosa evo because the trichomes were turning. Is it possible to have a early ripeness and just because some turn amber the rest of the plant is not ready? Because the whole plant is damn near leaf(hardly any bud) but the trichomes were telling me otherwise. And all around looking premature after I dried it. Any suggestions or advice? I know not to pay attention to the numbers or how long? And focus on the milky and amber resin glands instead. And in doing so I believe on this one I jumped the gun.

As a personal preference, I harvest when trichs are minimal clear, mostly cloudy, and about 25%-30% turning amber. This is the trichs on the buds, not the sugar leaves. The sugar leaf trichs tend to mature earlier. I also look to see that there is none or very minimal new bud growth with white pistils. Usually, the top colas will ripen before the lower buds. If I have time to wait, like I don't have some veg plants that need to go into the flower tent right away, then i'll let the lower buds ripen for another week or so.

I usually find that I add a week to two weeks longer from flip to 12/12 than the breeder recommendation on the pack, so if pack says 8 weeks, I finish in 9 to 10 weeks from flip to 12/12.

Keep in mind I only have about six or seven harvests under my belt, but I think I have a little to say about what you're talking about. I have experienced the exact same thing in the past.

Yes, in my opinion, I agree with you 100%- part of the plant can mature faster than the others, depending on your lighting especially (almost always happens to me because I use CFLs). Harvest the part that is ready, and let the rest go further.

Additionally, there are some strains that will have two or three more fattening up rounds, and the trichs will continue to turn. This is where experience comes in and I don't have enough for you to give you a perfectly definitive 100% failproof answer.

I, too, have usually had to let my plants go a couple weeks longer than the breeders say as well. Good luck, and happy growing!

Thanks guys I also found in further inspection there is/was a mold problem? I have a few other strains going two photoperiods and this plant had something going on from the beginning I feel it was just not stretching and when I looked at them semi dry they are all leaf and stopped growing with all the hairs brown. I left a little of the popcorn buds to experiment with to see I just hope the mold didn’t ruin it all and hit my other plants. Thanks for all the advice everyone.

Looks like “clawing” and leaves very dark. Probably nitrogen toxicity in that one.

Hey I got something going on with my L.S.D Barney’s farm grown in soil(coco,perlite and polymer crystals) and I’m like two maybe three weeks away and I saw my leaf tips are curling up just a little bit? Is the light too close or too strong? It’s a Mars hydro 1000 watt,1000 watt bestva, and an Agromax 65 watt. I got the bestva on flower with red diodes. I’m using fox farm nutritions I used full bloom and terpinator until I flushed cause I thought I was closer to harvest than I was because I was mislead on harvest time accuracy. Now I’m just giving all organic to try and improve taste and harshness.

I hope you don’t leave water on the tile floor all the time. You’ll end up creating a moldy environment and destroy the tile, grout and subfloor that way. Get some trays or something because judging by the color of the grout it was never sealed either or hasn’t been redone in a while.

No that was the middle of my garage. I was flushing it that’s why it’s all wet let me go to my tent and I’ll send flicks give me a few minutes.

Harsh smoke comes from piss poor drying conditions and pulling early. those three light your lucky if you’ve got 300 watts there so I’ll be honest and say it’s not enough light. No need for terpinator or flushing.keep it simple and the plants heathy no need for ”bloom boosters” or all that either.

See how the leaf is curling up? The burnt tips were there already that’s when I stopped the chems and went organic. I am making some tea for it as we speak. This is my first couple of harvests with LED lights. I used HPS in the past and think I’m going back. I experimented with them and in a few years as technology advances and they get the diode combos together they will be great.

They already are great. Do more research.

Please if you know of better lights put me on game. Also let me clarify my last posts about organic because I was typing as I was working and probably sounded crazy. I meant I’m switching to organic fertilizers. Once a crop has chemies in it, it is no longer nor could be true organic. OMRI is really the only true and trusted stamp as far as organic. Just wanted to clear that up. Sorry guys.I type like a dinosaur!

Depends.... some guys like hlg, timber, chilled, and some like kingbrite, meiju, and some like diy. There's good options for all that I listed and a few more.

Thanks I first started out at Home Depot with all that bullshit. Then online and trial and error. Once I’m done with this cycle I will be switching up. You have to I feel. Just like you upgrade your phone and electronics,you need to do the same with your lights.

Do the research. Look around on the forum at what everybody else is using. There's many very good options out of the ones I mentioned, and more. Find the one that suits your needs and budget. Don't go buying a true 1000 watt at the wall light, for a 3x3. On the flip side, don't buy a 100 true watt light for a 5x5.

Oh and to just ring in on the led convo… I diy’d one and bought a few. Gonna be doing my first run with the diy one soon, seems to veg well, goin for flower next. 1400 watts at the wall. And 5x4 so big enough to do a 8x6 enclosure. Either way there are a lot of options out there. And led’s are definitely doing well.

What are your temps and humidity? Sometimes the leaf curling up is a heat issue, or too dry, or both.

If that is all in range, it could be continuing signs of overfeeding. Third, it could also be the lights are too close! Or a little bit of all three even, as I have had this issue myself.

As close as you are to finishing, it is best to resolve this problem because one time I had this around the same phase you are at, I did not fix it and my yield suffered greatly because they could not finish to full term.

From looking at your comments in this thread, my first guess is overfeeding.

Those are the three main culprits for tips curling up however, at least in my experience.

And for lighting, I am so in the same boat as you! I have grown with hps, leds, CFLs.... so many pros and cons to every setup, it really is a total personal choice at the end of the day.

I would check out http://www.growweedeasy.com Nebula is an amazing grower, she has magnificent skills! Check out her section on lighting, she does grows side by side with various LEDs and stuff, definitely worth a look.
