graphs with more than one entry may be pretty hard to comprehend for you but it clearly shows about 32.5 percent of people were in poverty when it started and only 15 % of people are in poverty now.
Clearly shows 32.5%, on what chart?
Parts of the war on poverty were implemented between 1964 and 1965.
Obviously, poverty was already trending down at the time the war on poverty began, also keep in mind it takes at least a year or two for funding to take effect.
Considering those two factors, the war on poverty looks useless..

Then tell us all what made the US the most prosperous economy in modern history.
Vast natural resources and slavery followed by wars to keep other nations from achieving trade dominance or freedom from US hegemony.

By the way, fuck the economy, it excludes too many people and is bad for the environment.

better than wasting it on real war...
I appreciate your aversion to "real war". It is a horrible thing. It's one of the many shitty things governments do.

However I think you may want to consider the method used to fund the "war on poverty" employs the same tactic as war in the usual meaning of the word. Both are backed by threats of armed government violence if you do not comply.

I am against war too, but if you scratch below the surface forced redistribution (the war on poverty) and war smell the same. Peace.

Sorry, but free market capitalism made this country the most prosperous economy on earth.
Many countries have vast resources, most have fought many wars and yes, had slavery too.

Sorry but capitalism leads to recession and great depression when the rich are too free to exploit the rest. The gov't then steps in to make it work and for a short while you have prosperity for most and endless growth coupled with mindless consumption.

Free market capitalism restrained by protectionism and a strong labor movement. If you want to see what a truly free market looks like check out any number of 3rd world countries.

Please learn the difference between a truly free market and the thing that people call a "free market" which isn't really a free market. (cronyism)

A free market is simply one that doesn't permit unwanted third parties to intervene between a willing buyer and a willing seller.

If you want to see what a truly free market looks like, you'll have to get rid of the parasites, the thieves and the we know what's best for you crowd.

Complete nonsense, what else would one expect from a pro socialist.
IMO, those who want socialism lack confidence in themselves to prosper, either that or just plain fucking lazy.

I like how you used the word Socialist as an insult and proceeded with it as an ad hominem in reply to my argument, which you began with the words Complete nonsense followed by a comma, so as to warn me that complete nonsense was to follow.

Almost as good as Dr Kynes there.

The only true way to be free is to be in control of the profits of your own labor. The capitalist system is the only one that doesnt start dividing up your income immediately. Socialism is a way for governments to force productive members of society to support unproductive members of society until the unproductive members grow so large the state fails under it's own weight. The USA is on that track right now. There isnt much capitalism going on here anymore.
