You raise a good point. The second amendment guarantees the right to keep and bear arms. That means if I were as rich as Gates I could own and operate and crew an aircraft carrier with full flight wing and the special bombs.

I don't see a partial/incremental prohibition (our current situation) as sustainable. We will either end up with unrestricted gun rights ... or none. Until the revolution when they again become unrestricted ...

You need to stop denying to yourselves. Change in legislative law will bring about the removal of guns from citizens that fail to meet the criteria. This will eventually culminate into an era where only law inforcement will have access to firearms.
