Most of us on here Know that 2-3 weeks prior to harvesting you want to flush out all the nutes and ferts that have built up in the plant and soil. A GREAT TIP for knowing if they are all out of the plants system is to break of a fan leaf from the stem. And taste the stem where you broke it off. YES i said taste! If it is bitter sweet that means there still is nutes and ferts in the system. If it taste likes water or nothing you did your job with the flushing! its as simple as that!

p.s- please rate this so i can work my way up on the rating chain. Im new to this site! thanks all

harvesting right now. Ill compare the flavor of 2 plants. they were cloned from same mother and treated with the exact same nutes and lights for 14 out of 16 weeks.I began flushing one tub ( 1 day of final phase) fresh water for a week now. The other tub is still eating overdrive. Guess your timing puts me in the spotlight. Ima go take a taste right now.....

Im back. well, I was chomping on leaves like a damn rabbit and have come to this conclusion: I cant agree or disagree with you. Excellent idea, never occured to me, but i cant say if its true or not. I did notice that my plant in its last week of overdrive had a slight bitter after taste, but that was on a trich filled stem and leaf. For the majority of the leaves and stems i munched from both groups, i tasted quite simply NOTHING. I figured itd be green flavored but nope, clean like water. Maybe since im down to just 300ppm of nutes in one tub, they are already near flushed? I dunno, the plants are really green, and I dont buy into that "less nitrogen yellow leaf idea", so theoretically if what you say is true, mine should taste really bitter.

Damn, I was getting excited. Anyhow, ill keep trying to see if theres any merit to your claim. Thanks and happy growing!!

Good to here you tested yours out Shanus. But i wouldnt "chomp on the leaves" at all. You want to just taste the part of the leaf where it was connected to the main plant. maybe suck on it for a second. You should notice a difference in a plant that is flushed correctly and the one that still has a nutes in her. The strain shouldnt matter on subject at all. especially if your growing in the same median.

yep, i sucked the stems first, tons of em!! Then I just went berserk tastin everything. haha. It sounds legit, but the water in mine all tasted like clean water. I was figuring on some bitter, but nope. Who knows tho, perhaps advanced nutes in my setup just lends itself to less nute flavor? Anyone else in the mood for mj salad tasting?

Curious to maybe soil is different. I have a couple soil plants finishing, but so many variables different, i didnt taste those. Anyone else?
